Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, just 4-5 weeks from changing from Winter tires to Summer tires for my 2003 C4S. Always appreciate your comments before a big purchase.
I am interested in updating the summer wheels. After looking at lots of photos and threads, I have narrowed it down to:
BBS RS-GT in Silver
Fikse FM10
Champion RG5
(note: All in 18")
Opinions welcome on these. I am sure I will be happy with any of them. (one question for tire experts--the Champion RG5s are 1/2 wider front and back than stock. The team at Wheel Enhancement recommends standard tires (225/40-18 and 295/30-18) while Champion recommends wider (235/40 18 and 315/30 18). Slightly different diameters but within 2% of stock. I am inclinded to go with recommendation of Wheel Enhancement given their reputation, but open to comments.
Regarding suspension: Have PSS-9s on order. I was thinking of a 20mm drop as a conservative first setting given our roads. Sound reasonable?
FYI, since you often ask for photos before offering wheel opinions . . .
(not the best photos, but what I have so far)
As always, thanks for the help
I love my RG5's. They are very strong and light (I believe they are the lightest of the wheels that you list).
I'd recommend 235 fronts and 295 rears.
FWIW I also use the BBS RS-GT's as my track wheels on my Boxster. They are also nice (and strong) but a little heavier.
i'm one to stuff as much rubber in the back as possible and only fikse can do that for you based on your three choices above. iirc, champion doesn't make 12s for the 996 but they do for the 997 likely due to manufacturing costs.
your c4s can fit 12" rears all day given you have the right offsets.
19s look visually superior to 18s
you don't have to lower as aggressively as one would on 19s since you have plenty of sidewall to balance out the gap with your 18s
pss9s are a proven choice
All of your wheel options sound great. I just bought some used Kiness (8.5 & 10.5) wheels for mine. I did a lot of searches pror to my purchase. I have the PSS9 suspension and it's a great choice. I currently have 295/225 tires. Mine is a narrow body. I will be looking to upgrade to 235s on the front based on the research I have done here. Damon, at Tire Rack was a great source of information.
Thanks all--appreciate the help. Have to admit I like the RG5s. Ray, where did you get the Porsche caps?
Regarding offsets, etc., all three that I mentioned are available with compatible offsets.

I would lean towards champions not solely because I recently placed them on my car but because of the weight advantage. BBS/Fikse/Champion are all great wheel manufacturers so you really can't go wrong with whichever.
Good luck with whichever you decide.
Thanks all--I really like the RG5s, and they are within my budget too. Photos will show up eventially, but will in in Winter tires for at least another month
Last night I discovered one of the downsides of having a Porsche! I was back in a string of cars going over the speed limit (luckily, not enough to get a ticket) and the only car that was Instant-On Radared was me!
I believe there were several instances of wheel failures during track/autocross use with HRE's (vipers, corvettes). I believe that they were marked as unacceptable by SCCA but don't quote me on that. I'd look into those issues before going with HRE's. Again, this is from memory of internet accounts, and not direct experience.
Arenared, I love those wheels. I ride Sport Designs in the summer, but man if you don't have me tempted to move the designs to winter duty and upgrade to the RG5s. Those are about as pretty a wheel as I've seen for the car.
Jon996, if you twist your brain inside out, this picture may help you. In the front is a C4S with what I believe are RG5s (but with the bolts). That will give you a better picture of rear RG5s and lips. Behind it is my Arena Red which is close to Orient Red. So, visually graft my front on the C4S.
Thanks for the reply--I have seen great photos of both. For some reason I am drawn to the BBS/RG5 design for my car. My car is leaning more towards the luxury touring car (full leather and full wood interior purchased by original owner) and less towards the street racer look.
Maybe I'm trying to recreate the wire-wheel look of my childhood dream car the E-type Jaguar. [Without the engine, electrical, and rust problems of the Jag
]
Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion . . . Really like the advice I get here at Rennlist!
