Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
After cleaning the radiators and replacing a cracked radiator intake duct on the passenger side (that I didn't realize was cracked until I had the bumper off), I noticed the front undertray (nearest the bumper) on my 996.1 is cracked also.
Leading evidence: 'Clean radiators' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean radiators' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I can't remember what the differences are(if memory serves me right...which it rarely does, it's the size of the shoulder) but I mismatched mine when I replaced all my panels.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wondering if the undertrays for the aero cars are the same part numbers for the standard cars.
My car is missing all of its undertrays and i'd like to order a sets but might go with an aero front bumper down the road. Dont want to spend money twice if I dont have to.
Yes they are the same. The rsr cars have different pans on the drivers side and an additional pan on the passenger side but the part numbers r hard to find and there r no retainer studs so i would not worry about finding them.
Also if u look up a gt3 car pan it has an additional pan under the trans to direct air up into the engine bay. This can be added to any standard car.
Perhaps this is a difference between the 996.1 and 996.2, because my car had one from the factory.(I'm fairly certain the PO didn't add it.)
I replaced mine recently(and the large one in front of it) because it was badly cracked.
The cost was not bad at all.
I think I spent less than $200 for both.
The Turbo/GT3/GT2 transmission aero panels have two NACA ducts for transmission cooling. I don't believe the M96 cars have these. The pictures in PET look the same - the panels are definitely different. 996-504-129-01 for M96's and 996-504-029-00 for Turbo/GT2/GT3.
The actual duct risers for the Turbo/GT2/GT3 are separate: 996-504-529-02
After cleaning the radiators and replacing a cracked radiator intake duct on the passenger side (that I didn't realize was cracked until I had the bumper off), I noticed the front undertray (nearest the bumper) on my 996.1 is cracked also. I have to look up the part number, but (stupid as this sounds) I could not figure out how to remove that front undertray when I was under there.
Thanks -- I remember the two clips you are talking about, it did not occur to me to pop them off (thought just removing screws was enough). Now that I know how to remove it, I'll look up the part and order it.
Anyone know how many plastic nuts are needed to retain all 4 undertray pieces? I know its six of the weird plastic clips. I think the book suggested 21 nuts but front picture looks like it has a ton LOL
They r cheap just get 30. They wear out easily. U will need a push pin for the center of the trans pan and mine has screw and clip that connects the rear most pan to the back of my areo side skirts.
I ordered 30 to be safe lol but didnt want to need more then have to make multiple trips to the dealer if I could avoid it.
Local dealer cost wasnt terrible. Beat Suncoast and saved on freight shipping!
There should be 6 of the metal clips.
When I got my 996.2 there were only 4, so I bought several so I could replace the 2 missing ones, and a few extras in case I ever lose/break one.
I don't think you can easily break one though.
They're not all that expensive IIRC.
There are 2 on the front and 2 on the rear panel.
The rest go on the middle panel.
There are also some different ones for the side panels, but they can be mis-matched.
I can't remember what the differences are(if memory serves me right...which it rarely does, it's the size of the shoulder) but I mismatched mine when I replaced all my panels.
I decided I wouldn't worry about them until I got underneath again.
I planned on buying all new ones since some of mine were not in the best shape.(Someone had stripped a couple of them)
But then I forgot about it until now...hopefully I can not obsess about it and put off the replacement for a while longer.
The 997 uses a piece there that fits. All the 997 trays can be added. U may have to add a couple fasteners. I grafted a naca duct so my trans cooler could get air.
