Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, OK, so I know from reading the forums that the best shops in Greater Seattle are Gerber, Squire, Cantrell etc. I have been taking my car to Park Place LTD. since I purchased my car from them and it was the owner's wife's car. Since the mileage is so low, I haven't really needed anything done so I just kept dealing with them and they have been great. I have a rattle coming from the headliner just above and to the rear of the passenger seat. They have pulled out the panels but still the rattle is there. They told me that to really get to the root of it, the headliner needs to come out, but that means pulling the rear quarter windows out etc. They'd have Car Nutz do it since they do interiors etc. I am more confortable for this particular rattle issue taking it to Gerber, Squire or who ever is the best with finding rattles and who is the best with these sorts of fine detailing problems. My question is.....who is the best in Seattle at finding where rattles are coming from and fixing them. I relaize some shops are better with mechanical problems, but this is a rattle issue. It isn't that bad, but a car like this one (original winder sticker price when new was $100K) shouldn't have a rattle like I have. Thanks as always, 2Brak

I don't know how to delete this message so Administrators, please feel free to do so. I talked to Mark at Eurotech Bodywerks, and since this is a more interior shop issue and not a mechanical, he is going to help me out.

If it is the same rattle as I had, it comes from a strut (long metal rod) that stretches accross the roof and secures the headliner. Each end goes into a clip mechanism - on mine, the passenger side clip became undone, and needed to be popped back in. It was an easy DIY fix. You have to remove the A pillar trim (front to back) and the trim piece from the seatbelt to the rear window; then unhook the roof liner. You can then reach in and see where the rod is supposed to be attached. Stefan
