Carefull with the radars over there BTW, that is the worst part of Spain in terms of speed enforcement (Barcelona-Catalua), although being from UK you are probably a pro at spoting them

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 6Original post

Indicated 160 mph in a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible on cheap polyester tires and no seatbelts....back in the "days".....It's a wonder I'm still here! In recent times indicated 152 mph in my friend's 1983(?) 512 BBi outside El Paso.

POST 7Original post

While not in a road car, I did 158.96 mph AVERAGE speed around the two mile oval of California Speedway.. Suddenly that track is not as big as it seemed in the 993

POST 8Original post

170mph with the top down at 3:30am on the 118 freeway and not a soul in sight. I felt the car could have gone for more...

POST 9Original post

I posted an old thread somewhere. Did 172 mph not long after he 2000 mile break-in. Like Leon, it felt it could have gone for more.

POST 10Original post

for short sprints I hit these numbers, get my heart pumping..

POST 11Original post

Yikes When I did my runs I did them out in Camarillo out in the farmland on those really long smooth straights, but they were limited by some traffic that I got up on quite quickly. Here's a pic of one of the runs there I think it's about 160ish

POST 12Original post

135 mph in a 73 ford LTD, 85 mph in a 73 super beetle , 125 mph 2001 996 , 150 mph 92 964 (track)

POST 13Original post

168 indicated (prob. 165 corrected) on s. 101 before paso robles. approaching traffic prevented higher speeds. not bad for 300 hp!

POST 14Original post

165+ in the 964 C4 and 120 in the 99' 996 C2. Im a sissy with the 996 since I've just got it and dont know jack about it yet but it should max out in the near future. Oh yeah, speeding is illegal guys .

POST 15Original post

154 mph (indicated) on a '95 Corvette LT-1 coupe on the way from Scottsdale to Flagstaff.

POST 16Original post

99.9 in my Duramax out in the Oregon desert. Dagnab computer shut off the fuel at 100.

POST 17Original post

110mph (electronically governed) in my wife's Toyota Sienna Minivan

POST 18Original post

I am waiting for Carlos to chip in. He does 170mph to work each day. C'mon Carlos, tell em what it's all about man

POST 19Original post

I'm afraid this is as fast as my 3.4l C4 will go without folding the side mirrors in or taking the aerokit's rear wing off Porsche makes my commute the best part of the day (Frame grab from a video from web page bellow)

POST 20Original post

There you go Hey Carlos how far are you from Barcelona? I am thinking of taking a trip to Menorca by driving down there and getting the ferry accross.

POST 21Original post

Unfortunately I'm way across to the opposite side of Spain, on the atlantic ocean, in the closest part of Spain to England Carefull with the radars over there BTW, that is the worst part of Spain in terms of speed enforcement (Barcelona-Catalua), although being from UK you are probably a pro at spoting them But if you are taking your own car, the UK radar freqs are the same as Spain's so you are covered

POST 22Original post

Well, back when I was young and reckless, 186mph on my Ducati 996 on the A12 in Essex UK (not sure if you know that road Scouser).......but got off the other end and decided to sell it as was amazed I was still alive. 173mph in my unrestricted CL55AMG when I had it.......now living in Spain and driving my C4 Cab have not got it over 250kmh with the roof down !!!! but am waiting for my new C4S cab to see if that is any faster.

POST 23Original post

180+MPH in my NSX. I got pulled over for 168MPH in it a few days later. I don't go that fast anymore.

POST 24Original post

Sorry for the dark image, but I was concentrating on something else.

POST 25Original post

Holy Crap O.E.!! 174? looks like you had some company too. Man that must have been fun!

POST 26Original post

POST 29Original post

Man, believe it or not, I'm ashamed to say this, I have been all around the world but I have never been south of Madrid in Spain yet Hey, you may want to check out: http://www.pasionporsche.com/foro/phpBB2/index.php its a Porsche forum for owners in Spain, with some track events (last month it was nurburgring and Jarama), etc. BTW, noticed you are a Quad/ATV fan as well

POST 32Original post

It that possible ? My MAX in my Targa is 173mph - It that is real, than DAM !

POST 34Original post

Pretty funny post Don. Car is too light for any speed close to that regardless of what is pushing it. Great picture though.

POST 35Original post

Rob, you are lucky it is just points and cash (I assume it was in MD). The Virginia HP will throw you **** in the slammer. My buddy got 6 days in the can and loss of drving for 1 yr only doing 125 on rt28 by Dulles. And that was a reduced sentence! It's something like 1 day per mph over 100. OUCH!!!

POST 36Original post

I was lucky because he could have given me a wreckless driving ticket also, another 6 points. Not sure about getting arrested. I belive they could have arrested me and then would have had to release me the same day. Needless to say, my *** has slowed down. No need to loose my license at 32 years old. Rob

POST 37Original post

I was watching the history of the Autobahn on TV the other night (on the History Channel) and Louis Ruf was talking about high speeds. Having seen the movie before I grabbed my dig cam and waited for his run. The camera panned down from the road to his speedo and I snapped the pic.

POST 39Original post

My utmost admiration for your perceptive abilities!

POST 40Original post

I also noticed the reflection of your home's lights on the TV.

POST 42Original post

Bernie, that is 208 mph. Were you going downhill with a tailwind?

POST 43Original post

It's the 1000 shot of NOS, the Evo SC and the quad bypass TT's I put in last weekend. Thought I would test out my new RMS It gets better......

POST 47Original post

Ive done 177mph ( showing on dials) This was without the bodykit. Strange since mine is a basic C2 3.4 . Mine has sports suspension so that might of helped. With bodykit it only goes to 171 mph.

POST 48Original post

Were you hoping to go fast enough so that the speed camera's could not see you?

POST 49Original post

I got my old man Jaguar up to 135 this morning in the way to work.

POST 50Original post

My fastest thus far in my Targa is 171mph - I don't think she had much more - What a rush -

POST 51Original post

i had my C4 up to 150 mph once (240 kmh). that was on a deserted highway at 4 am. i hit 140 more than a few times, and 130? who knows, more times than i can count! 120 stopped being fast when i bought a car that could hit it in 4th gear with 2 MORE GEARS TO GO!!!!!!! now my daily driver is a car that would probably explode if it went over 90...

POST 52Original post

Carlos. Sounds like your near Cadiz. Probably in/on Gabraltar but not doing those speeds on the rock. I love Espana. Can't wait to go back. As for speed, I've had this old 911 to 134. More than a little pedal left.

POST 54Original post

Ah, Gibralter. Love it and my wife does too... duty free.

POST 56Original post

Hi Everyone, Only had the C2 for a while and so havent had too much of a chance to test out the top speed. Mid range acceleration seems good, however I am slightly dissapointed as it seems to really slow up on the acceleration around 140mph? The max I have managed is 155mph as I simply ran out of open road. How fast should it keep accelerating from around 140?(2001 - 3.4 C2) Fastest I have been is an indicated 205mph on the speedo of my best friends HKS tuned R33 Nissan Skyline (650bhp)

POST 57Original post

"168 indicated (prob. 165 corrected) on s. 101 before paso robles. " That is THE best palce for speeding. At night, on a weekday, you can go 30 minutes without seeing another car i did 140-150 consistently for about that amount of time on several occasions

POST 58Original post

140mph on my Harley Vrod (sorry, not crazy enough to take a picture) 170mph in the 951 with 400 RPMs left till redline

POST 59Original post

280km/h ECU chip and motorsound exhaust 993 Proof: http://www.miraculix.nu/upload/280km.AVI

POST 60Original post

Just a few weeks ago: 319 km/h indicated with my 996 Turbo (stock engine, car has now over 180'000 km). And this speed was sustained for several minutes, and repeated quite a few times. Yeah, german Autobahn... Had the luck to drive several hundreds km at speeds between 250 and 319... Great! Greetings, --Pierre

POST 61Original post

Hmm....that's weird. I thought spoilers made cars inherently faster???? Atleast that's what all the Neon and Civic drivers tell me My top speed as of yet is about 105mph. I was in 6th and somewhere around 4k rpm so i thought I should back off It's my GT3 body kit and that damn spoiler that's limiting me
