What are the pros and cons of the glass top targas? Also, first year is 96 correct? Thanks

The Targa is amazing, IMHO. Always light and airy, even if rainy or cooler weather. Stiffer than a convertible, although not quiet as stiff as a coupe. Can lower or raise roof at speed. Beautiful in the right color. Some complain about rear visibility problems when top down due to double panes of tinted glass and position of upper rear brake light, but doesn't bother me. I believe it bothers shorter people more than taller people.

96 was the first year - IMHO the 993 Targa was a gorgeous car, more so than the 996 Targa (owned them both). Pros: Light and airy Rarer / unique Open/close top at speed Quieter than a cabriolet Cons: Rear visibility can be a problem (was for me, I'm not quite 6') Slight weight disadvantage (which means nothing for most uses) I was nervous about resale values - new 996 Targas have not been a good seller 993's did have some roof mechanism and possibly slight leak problems (996 probably better) Possible roof rattles (but never bothered me) My $0.02
