Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

But I'm still not sure about the cold air.

Thinking of putting the above on my car. I was wondering if some of you guys could give me some feedback on your experiences with this package. Also, and I know this is a particularily naive question, how much stress will this put on the engine and should I expect any appreciable gains in performance or is it just gonna sound better (and weigh 50lbs less, which is where I expect the biggest impact performancewise). In particular, I'm not sure I want to add the cold air intake (only 225$ more so it's not the money, I'm just not sure I get much more for the car in trade for what it may or may not do to the engine in general). Well, like I said, I'm pretty new to this car so I'm very ignorant of it's dynamics. Any input is already appreciated.

I didn't get a full performance package, just the cold air intake. But I figured I'd give you my thoughts on the intake. When you start the car you don't hear any difference, but under WOT, it's way better. It's much more sporty sounding. For 200 bucks, I thought the sound was well worth the money. As far as performance, it's an intake and you don't feel a thing. Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I'd go with EVO's CAI based on what I've heard. I hope that helps in some way.

POST 3Original post

I have the Fabspeed intake also and as grant911 said, just the sound the engine makes is worth the money.. I did not notice any hp gains..

POST 4Original post

I think the weight savings of the mufflers have been exaggerated. My stock cans were 23 lbs each and my Fabspeed cans are 17 lbs each.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's a great point. However, the package above includes new headers and a sport Cat system as well. I'll try and weigh each as I exchange them. Yeah, I'm gonna do the exhaust swap. But I'm still not sure about the cold air. Hmmmm.

POST 6Original post

I do have the set up right now on my car. Had the kit on for about 7 months. No seat in pants. I did take out the intake for a EVO. Quiet at idle & loud at throttle. To me this set up is more for sound than anything else. For the price I paid to get the sound I think it's too much but then again that's me.

I had the EVO intake on my car and it lost horsepower... I know a few others who took off the EVO CAI for the same reason... sounds awesome though!... you *think* your going faster cause of the sound... but nothing here... as for cats... make sure you get 200 cell cats.... Cargraphic probably make the best ones that I know others have used and are happy with.... and of course... make sure you have a GIAC flash on your car to take advantage of these mods...
