i have a tt-i have the dunlops (265's) on 10 inch wheels (turbo wheels) and i used the original front wheels to put the same size dunlop snows on them, thereby only having to buy the rear wheels (from wheel enhancement) and 4 dunlop snows.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone out there with winter tires on a C4S? Do 265/35/18's fit on the 11 inch rear wheel? It is my understanding that the maximum recommended wheel width for a 265 series tire is 10.5 inches. Is anyone using the 265/35/18 on the oem wheel? By the way, I would prefer to have a dedicated set of winter rims and tires. Any recommendations on wheels? Do other oem wheel styles have the correct offset to clear the big brakes. Any and all help is appreciated.

POST 2Original post

A friend has the same query right now. He found Tirerack has a solution with a set of Mille Milliga wheels. Are there any other options? The limiting factor appears to be width for the rears of a suitable winter tire. TIA, Mark

POST 3Original post

The factory specifies a 265/35 tire on a 10" wheel. The 11" wheel is too wide for a 265 tire. In fact, they actually have an approved set for your car. It is Dunlop SP Winter Sport M2 N0.

Here is the URL for last year's (2002) Christophorus article concerning all the testing Porsche did in the Artic for winter tire setups. It's a very good article. http://www2.us.porsche.com/english/u...28_033_usa.PDF Also, I noticed that this month's (Oct/Nov 2003) article has more info but it's not available via the Internet.
