Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Good point - probably would have been an idea if I'd checked the site first.

You can get a traffic pro which replaces the stock head unit, it will have audible directions, as well as arrows on the radio face.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My C4 doesn't have NAV.
I want to look into getting some sort of navigation system.
What are my options? What are the prices?
Does anyone have an aftermarket installation?
Is it feasible to buy the OEM version and install it?
for the most part OEM install is not possible. I had found a PCM 1, and put the question to the board, someone had done it once but said never again...
depends on how much you are looking to spend and what exactly you are looking for. You can get a traffic pro which replaces the stock head unit, it will have audible directions, as well as arrows on the radio face. Or you can tear out you current system and install all new components that will hook up to a separate screen in the dash, or a unit with a slide out screen...
Traffic Pro is like 1400, the custom system upwards of 3k...
I ended up getting a Garmin iQue 3600. It has all the features I need, is very small, and is a Palm V based PDA. I have an '03 cab with the newer audio system, so it is difficult to integrate without changing everything over - unless you have no desire to have the nav system give directions through the stock speakers.
I've had aftermarket systems fitted to two 996s in preference to the PCM. The VDO Dayton DVD system fits perfectly: the drive goes under the seat and the screen is mounted below the existing climate control and radio once the CD holder and cubby have been removed. The system is easily wired to mute the radio and sound through the car speakers. The whole job took a professional installer a couple of hours. The software is particularly impressive, and I've had no problems with it at all in the UK and throughout Europe - I believe there full US coverage, but not sure
To be honest I much prefer the way the interior of the car looks now as I didn't like the amount of space the PCM takes up. .
Good point - probably would have been an idea if I'd checked the site first. Doh.
Was sure I'd seen US discs for it somewhere. Must have been my imagination.
Saw your other post about how to fix your center console. The factory Nav install really screws the center console up. If you look at the factory package, the A/C control is all the way at the bottom, below the Nav Disc Drive, and difficult to adjust. Depending on where you live, (ie. on the border of disc coverage) you never have to mess with the disc, so I am going to move my Nav Disc unit to the trunk, move the A/C control box up, and put a cubby box on the bottom.
rbarna, the Traffic Pro costs about $1400 but there may be suppliers that would discount. Be sure and check RENNLIST sponsors...
