Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a Aerokit I for my 99 C2 996? I haven't checked the dealers around here but that's my next stop unless nobody knows of a good shop/dealer near them which will ship to me. I am in Maryland by the way. Thanks Md

POST 2Original post

Suncoast and Braman porsche will soon be running specials.

POST 3Original post

DPS just had a Rennlist group buy. I got in late, but Dayton gave me the price. There is a tgread a couple of pages back

POST 5Original post

"soon" meaning...? hmm....if the deal is "special" enough i may have to advance my mod calendar (i plot out when i am allowed to purchase things for the car. like floodgates so i don't go on a spree in one day)

POST 6Original post

MDrob, I'm possibly interested too, in MK1 sides and maybe front for 99 C2, depending on cost, so maybe we can negotiate with vendor. Question: are parts primed only or can they be ordered colored matched? Feel free to PM me. Since I'm in middle of having interior modded, would have to work the wife hard on this *_*

POST 7Original post

Yes, what do you mean by soon? I'm interested in the MKI sides and front bumper for my '00 Cab.

POST 8Original post

I'm considering the same for my 99 C2 as well.......

POST 9Original post

perhaps we can do a groupbuy? i want the front and rear spoilers (000 044 801 90).

POST 10Original post

They always have an early summer sale about this time, give them a shoutout.

POST 11Original post

Okay, if anyone notices the sale, please post. Last time it was just a small add in Excellence and by the time I got to it, they were out.

POST 12Original post

Finally got it back. It was worth the wait. Thanks again, groupo buy from dayton

POST 15Original post

What are the prices like on the group buy? Full kit including wing.

POST 16Original post

The gt3 bumber and skirts were 1700. I didn't get the wing

POST 18Original post

Was this the DPS group buy? Anyone familiar with DPS? Further, anyone interested in another group buy?

POST 19Original post

I might be interested in a group buy. Looking for OEM for an 04 C2.

POST 20Original post

Yes 1700 was the price I got from the DPS group buy. I struggled with the decision to paint my hood to get rid of the rock chips. I wish I had not done it. The rock chips would be a welcome sight to me now. They screwed the hood up so bad I wouldn't even let them try and fix it. Oddly enough the shop painted the bumper and skirts just fine. His prep work on the hood was just atrocious, and that after two tries.

POST 21Original post

If threre is another group buy please add me to the list.

POST 23Original post

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the emails, we didn't want to offer another group buy until we had plenty of stock. I'm proud to say we just got in a full container of GT-3 / Aerokit front bumpers. So if anyone is interested again we will honor the $1700.00 price for the Genuine front bumper and side skirts. These bumpers also fit the boxsters, so let your 986 friends know too! Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 24Original post

Dayton, any reason why you don't sponsor this site? Then you could run all the group buys and specials you want.

POST 25Original post

We would love to however, we think it may be a conflict of interest to our existing customers that already sponsor this site. The only reason we offer this bumper deal is currently none of our customers retail them through us. Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 26Original post

Hi Dayton, send me a gt3 console delete....................... in black. cod and with a bow.

POST 28Original post

Yup, Dayton has my order for the aero bumper and side skirts! Best deal that I found was from DPS, it's not even worth checking out other places. As long as he does a good job on the paint job he'll have a customer for life in me. How's the painting going? I hope that Glacier White is looking good! ...I can't wait to get my hands on them and get them installed!

POST 29Original post

If you are looking for a good deal on a taco wing, check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/Porsche-996-GT3-...em260048915079 I have a factory taco wing on my car. I had an issue with the center part of the taco wing where the paint would bubble up looking a lot like someone had dabbed touch up paint on it. And there were a bunch of these spots. A repair shop color sanded it once and clear coated it, but five weeks later it looked the same. When I took it back, they sanded down one of the spots to the bare surface and let it sit overnight. The next morning, the area was damp as something was coming up through the surface. Obviously, this was causing the issue and they did not want to repair it as they felt the spots would return. They felt it was a defective part and that Porsche should cover it under warranty. That was denied. As many of you know, you cannot buy the center section separately and the list price from Porsche is excessive for the entire rear wing. I did a search on E-Bay looking for a used wing to replace mine and came up with the ad above. After looking at the photos, the wing appeared to be an exact copy of the factory wing. I called the guy and asked him if he would sell the center section separately and if it would fit the factory wing. He said it would fit and the price would be around $300 plus shipping. He also said it was made out of the same composite material as the factory wing. I ordered the part and the body shop was very impressed with the quality feeling that it was at least equal to the factory part. It fit perfectly and I have not had a re-occurence of the paint issue. Based on my experience, I feel you would be happy with the quality of the piece and that it would be priced competitively. Also, the guy was very helpful which is also worth a lot.

POST 31Original post

That may bother some people but it doesn't seem to bother a lot of people who put aftermarket suspension pieces, mufflers, brakes, seats, and sound equipment in or on their cars. That being said, I was not happy to have to replace the center section but the savings were so significant that I felt I did not have a choice. In case anyone would like to have an OEM center section that is guaranteed to bubble the paint, I have one you can have!!!!

POST 32Original post

Would anything else be required to use this bumper on my 1999 996?

POST 33Original post

Nothing else is needed. I just replaced mine two weeks ago, and it was a straight swap and a perfect fit. You can re-use all the existing screws and rivets. I had a bigger ordeal with the *#@^&* wheel lock key!

POST 34Original post

Charlie, Can you post a good front/side view of your car please....

POST 35Original post

The bumpers use all existing hardware, the skirts come with a hardware kit. ZX, there is a optional lower lip spoiler thats available for 70 bucks or so. Most don't use it though as it is history as soon as it touches anything. Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 36Original post

Anyone have their Aero Kit painted by DPS? Was the job good? My car is artic silver, so I feel like it should be relatively easy, right?

POST 37Original post

I did, and mine is also arctic silver. As far as I can tell, the color-match is near perfect. If you're going the DPS route, just make sure to verify beforehand their paint guy is not sick, so the turnaround time will be as expected. Sorry Dayton, couldn't resist! ZX, I'll go snap some pics of mine if I can make it home before night-fall. Otherwise, it may have to wait til this weekend.

POST 38Original post

Dayton is painting up my bumper and side skirts as we speak. I'll post comments on the match when they arrive.

POST 39Original post

Oreganet, you said purple right? Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 40Original post

Charlie, theres no love here! whats up with that Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 41Original post

It's a good thing that I have a sense of humor. ...you don't know how hard it is waiting for the new toy to arrive. almost as bad as the days I had to wait to take delivery of the car. Although, it's not as though I'll be able to install them immediately anyway. I'm glad to see that everyone else is clamoring for them also.... I can't wait to post new pics in the spring. I'll make sure that you get copies.

POST 42Original post

Dayton, For my '01 996 what part numbers am I looking at on your website? Also, do you offer painting, if so how much $? Last, I recall reading some posts on this board advising not to get a front aero unless the corresponding rear wing is added - anything to this? Thanks!

POST 43Original post

Search function works great! Here's the latest discussion from only last week. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/308581-partial-aero-kit.html

POST 44Original post

As a matter of fact, I am so stupid I could not find the parts being offered....

POST 46Original post

It is the other way around. DON'T add a rear wing without the corresponding front aero. The rear wing will increase the rear down force, which will make the front end even "lighter" feeling so the front areo needs to be added to increase the down force in the front.

POST 47Original post

Tim, technically it is to reduce lift in the front (essentially the same).

POST 48Original post

Dell... are we going to do that "to-MAY-to"...."to-MAH-to" thing again? Yes, technically, you ARE correct!

POST 50Original post

Guys, I hear ya, everyone has some good points. Personally, Los Angeles area doesnt allow me to drive our 996 fast enough to matter what components we have on our cars. Gota 450.00-600.00 for paint depending on what you get.. Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 52Original post

Metal....you realize that the thread is for a 99-01 front?

POST 53Original post

Oops! Now I do, thanks. Were the front fenders different between 99-01 and 02-05?

POST 54Original post

Here is a really good link, that I like to keep for reference regarding the 996 side skirts: http://www.pca.org/tech/tech_qa_question.asp?id={8B5D4671-B8C4-4B17-B9AE-4ADD78C26977} It gives all the part numbers and answers alot of questions

POST 55Original post

Yes the fenders are different due to the different headlights. Cheers Dayton www.dps-motorsports.com

POST 56Original post

Front bumper and sides are different between the pre-facelift and the facelift models. However, you CAN use either the MkI or the MkII side members (side skirts) for all model years 996 (narrow body).

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
