Last time I really drove the car and check the pressure was a DE 6 weeks ago.
Inspect tire 4 times and could't find anything wrong

I asked some of my stingy track buddies and they said one should be fine because the courses we run there is more wear on the left front anyway.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sunday PM just found out my driver's side front Falken Azenis RT615 size 225/40 18 is flat. Front tires have 50% tread life left. I have a DE in 4 days. Should I order 2 new front tires or can I just get away with one? 2001 996 C2.
Thanks,
Kevin
Personally I would order 2 to have 2 new ones on the front. There can be significant differences in performance, even for exactly the same make/model/size tire between one that has 50% tread and the hardening that goes with aging vs. the new one with 100% tread and new rubber. Make sure that the 2 new tires are well scrubbed off and you have a bunch of miles on them though and a few heat cycles as they are slippery when new due to new rubber and mold releasing stuff. A few hundred miles should do the trick. Save the older 50% one for a future emergency spare or sell to someone wanting a lease car trade-in tire. Might not be worth it.
Just my opinion and what I would do given your situation. I know that it means $$$ but doing a DE means $$ anyway. COF: cost of fun!
Regards,
Marc
Great question but I don't have the answer. Last time I really drove the car and check the pressure was a DE 6 weeks ago. I haven't driven the car in a week it's just been sitting in my garage. Last night while putting in new harnesses on the passenger side I walked around to the driver's side and it was FLATTTT. No pressure. I filled it up and 18 hours later it hasn't lost any psi. I inspected the tire 4 times and could't find anything wrong with the tire or the tire valve. I am going to take it to a tire place to see if they can find a nail, leak, or any reason for the leak.

Marc,
Thanks for your input. I ordered one and of course I am second guessing myself. I asked some of my stingy track buddies and they said one should be fine because the courses we run there is more wear on the left front anyway. I will but 100 miles on the tire before I hit the track. The first couple heat cycles I will take it easy. I am also going to bring my spare wheels with street tires in case I have any problems. I'll update you of the performance of the tires (50% right vs. new left) after I run on Thursday.

Turns out it was leaking around the rim. Tire place took the tire off, cleaned the tire and wheel, mounted & balanced & I'm good to go. I told them I'd be driving 130mph and they said should be fine.
I had low pressure in the tires from my last event so possibly more air leaked out, cold weather caused a decrease in pressure and I lost the seal...that's the only thing I can think of anyway.
I'll have an extra set of wheels w/street tires in case there are any problems.
