I've got the passenger seat out and I'm wondering what to do with the wires that run from the seat belt buckle recepticle to the wiring harness under the stock seat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm installing SRD's in my 2000 996 C4. I've got the passenger seat out and I'm wondering what to do with the wires that run from the seat belt buckle recepticle to the wiring harness under the stock seat. Should I remove the whole mess of wires from the stock seat and install it with the recaro or can I just cut the wire at the buckle recepticle and go without it? Thanks in advance! -Ross

POST 2Original post

You'll need to be a bit more descriptive of exactly what wires you are talking about. Pics would help. But the ONLY wiring set that needs to stay connected is the small plug coming connecting the seatbelt reciever to the wiring harness under the seat. The rest is just powerseat wiring, etc. It is similar to the GT3 seat install. Unplug the entire harness from the factory seat and then reconnect just the seatbelt portion and reinstall the seat belt reciever. If not.......AIR BAG light!

POST 3Original post

Stolen from a pioneering rennlist member, this should help.. visual aids! http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albuq41 What ever you do, don't cut ANYTHING! To avoid the airbag light, you need to make sure that you transplant the buckle recepticle and the wire. The wire MUST be plugged in, as Dell has indicated above.

Use the link Chris just posted. That is the link I used "back in the day" as well. Great pics. If you get stuck or have any problems, just post back.
