After the first flush I filled upp with distilled water, I did forget to pull up the burp valve but I managed to fill it up anyway.
Leading evidence: 'Fill upp' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill upp' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Need some assistance. Car is C2 coupe tiptronic from 2001.
Im halfway through coolant change. I have flushed the coolant once ( previous owner had wrong color on coolant) and Im on my second flush now.
The first flush I managed to remove 5 galons. Now on my second flush I have only managed to remove 2 galons. I have followed the 3 steps (drain plug, big hose lose on the left side under the engine and the smaller on the right side all with compressed air) on one of the coolant threads in here but I cant get out more than 2 gallons.
I dont want to use more than 10 psi.
Feels like there is something blocking the system.
After the first flush I filled upp with distilled water, I did forget to pull up the burp valve but I managed to fill it up anyway. Can this be the problem now? Too many air pockets in the way for the second flush?
I cant figure this out appreciate all help.
I figure the problem you're encountering at the moment is a combination of too little pressure and too many openings.
When I flushed my 996, I first emptied the coolant from the drain plug, but then screwed it back on after the drain was complete.
Then, I removed only the thermostat housing and blew compressed air into the reservoir using
a compressed air blow gun
while forming a
loose
seal with my gloved hand. My air compressor puts out 100 psi and I started off with light pressure on the air gun, but finished it off with full pressure. I've found the trick is to balance the output pressure with the tightness of the seal at the reservoir.
I performed the flush two or three years ago and have not had to revisit the cooling system since, so I assume this method is pretty safe -- even if it doesn't sound like it. Most of my cooling system components were original, too, like the radiators and hoses.
Just start off easy and gauge your progression.
Open the coolant tank cap.
Open the big hose on the left, and collect the coolant under the car.
Open the big hose on the right.
Blow air in toward the front of the car from the right and collect coolant on the left
Open the two little hoses under the car.
Blow air in from one (toward the front of the car) and collect coolant from the other.
5 to 6 gallons is what you should get.
I actually did the three parts separately as described on the other thread ( drain plug reinstalled.
I might bump up the psi little bit more but its risky since all part are original and old 😬
@yelcab
Cam you maybe point out rhe hoses on a picture?
i filled up the car with what I got out from the second drain today,. Drowe the car for 15 minutes and topped it up.
still the same problem. I only get out 2.5 gallons. Bumped up the psi to 20. I have used this thread as guidance:

Update!
I ended up flushing and driving 3 more times with destilled water. Each time I was able to flush out more and more. Last flush ended up with 5 gallons.
In total I flushed 6 times so I gues what was left in the system could not harm.
Drove the car over 40 miles today and all looks good. No overheating.
Thank you all for your help!
