Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm trying to help a friend who is looking at two different 996 Cabs. I'm a 997 guy, and frankly don't know that much about buying a 996, both wrt value, and the options that were available. http://www.luxuryhighline.com/detail...a/Convertible/ http://the-collection.porschedealer....ntoryid=261676 Anyone like to comment about the cars, their value, and maybe the two dealers involved?

POST 2Original post

Mglobe - I am not really "up to speed" on Cab prices, but after looking at cars, the first one (black) is pretty basically equipped except for the side skirts and wing. I can't tell for sure but those skirts look like MK I skirts, which were for '99 - '01 996's and the car is an '03. Technically, it should have the MK II skirts which were made for the mid-model face lift '02 - '04 cars. IMO, the price is too high. The second car has full leather and MK I front bumper and skirts, along with the small cab wing. Probably a decent but not killer price. Maybe others that are more familiar with Cab prices will chime in on these cars. BTW, I have no first hand knowledge of either dealer.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Tim, just the sort of stuff I'm looking for. I personally would lean towards the Lapis car. Love the color, I'm not a big fan of the wing on the Black car, and the price seems a bit better. Was there some sort of nav offered in 01? The blue car looks like it has a PCM like screen, but I thought PCM was a 997 vintage thing.

POST 4Original post

Yes, PCM was available as an option on the 996 and you are correct, the Lapis Cab does have PCM. It is listed as option 662 toward the bottom of the page in the link you provided. However, I do not know what is included in the "Advanced Technic Package" or the "Comfort Package" which are also on the Lapis Cab.
