Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

looking forward to testing out my new suspension this weekend. after all my whining and bugging people i finally went with a set of cross competition coilovers (JIC), 10/14k springs. can't wait for road A this weekend

POST 2Original post

Holy smokes! That's a lot of spring for a street car. I like that! Keep a close eye on your other suspension parts. Stiff springs and hard driving will cause a lot of fatigue on other parts. Particular weak spots are rear tie rods and ball joints. You'll know you have a tie rod problem if you notice the rear end wagging a bit when you come off the gas to shift gears on a straight. You'll know you have a broken ball joint when you hear what sounds like a flat tire and the car starts going sideways while the tire tears your fender all to hell. Have a great time. Jim

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks! but this car is now 90% track use! when i take it on the street ill make sure the road i go on is free of bumps and potholes, etc.

POST 4Original post

Wow, congrats.. knowing Motons are 6K.. that's probably normal

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

er, motons are 6k? if you mean price , then i was referring to spring rate in kg/mm

POST 6Original post

Curious to see what you think after a weekend on the track... did you change sway bars too?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sway bars are remnants of the RoW M030 kit i previously had on the car. after this weekend...maybe another, i'll see if those will want to be changed as well.

POST 8Original post

penguinking - do you still have the remainder of the RoW M030 parts? Do you want to sell them and, if so, how much? Please PM me.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

great! car feels alot more attached to the ground. car didn't feel as stiff as i was expecting it to be, though, for the spring rate that i have. even so, car definetly WAS and FELT faster than before. i think alot of that also had to do with better alignment and car being lower to the ground. the car did feel like the front end was a bit "high", but i think that has more to do with the aero than the suspension itself. i've heard cars with the aerokit are much more "planted" at speed. didn't get to do much tuning, mostly because i was getting used to simply driving with the new suspension. started with full stiff on all corners and went down from there. ended up at 4 and 2 from full stiff on front and rear respectively. initially the front was skipping and bumping alot in turns and after i turned down the compression it settled. car still exhibits some understeer (which i don't mind) but mostly cause of the alignment i specified (-2 front, -2.5 rear camber). will have to wait about a month to test it out again, but as of now i am quite satisfied and i think after lowering the car more and tuning the suspension, it will be a much faster car than before.

POST 11Original post

thanks - i just ordered the same setup and it's good to hear that you didn't feel it was too stiff. that was my biggest concern. please post any changes to your set up and the result of the change and i'll do the same after mine gets in...
