Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I first installed my fabspeed I felt the same, too quite.
Leading evidence: 'Install fabspeed i felt the same, too quite' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'loudest stock exhaust out these days' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install fabspeed i felt the same, too quite' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Nissan/infiniti products are probably the loudest stock exhaust out these days.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I got a fabspeed & I dont think it is THAT loud... it is loud, but not annoying.. in fact, I think it could be louder... but before I decide to get some bypass pipes, I need your opinions!
On a scale of 1-10 lets say the Maxflos are a 5 in terms of loudness. The loudness of a stock 996 is a 2.5 and for comparison, the loudness of a stock G35 is a 3.5. Where in your opinions do the maxflow's lie on this scale?
I've noticed the fabspeeds get a bit louder and louder over time, but as far as aftermarket car (any make) exhausts go they are somewhat quiet.
I would say a good exhaust should be about a 8. Anymore is for those who want something super super loud. Id say the fabspeeds are about a 6.
Fabs were on the first 996 Cab I test drove. They didn't seem loud until I drove back to the hotel thru the city with the car in 3rd.

When I first installed my fabspeed I felt the same, too quite. After a few hundred miles it breaks in and the sound improves alot. Not as good as a PSE but second place in my opinion
Which one do you think is louder? Cat-bypass with fabspeed muffler or stock cat with muffler bypass? I'm deciding whether to get this muffler by pass for a good deal. The seller says he used it for 2 years and it's streetable.
I wish my fabspeed maxflo's were louder, just a bit louder tho. I think the muffler bypass will be too loud... my impression of the maxflo is that the soud is not uniform throughout the RPM range, This may be more to do w/ the engine, but I really like the sound of the car up to about 2700 RPM, but then the sound gets quiet from that point up to about 3200 RPM, then it gets a little louder again.
Most of the sound seems to be at around 2500 RPM tho..
Will an Air intake system like K&N or EVO's make the exhaust louder since the air flow will be less restricted?
Is Tubi or AWE louder than Fabspeed?
I have watched the Fabspeed video's and they seem like a pretty straight through muffler with minimal restriction.
Alright newbie to the P-car exhaust scene. I bought a 99 with aftermarket mufflers, I got under there the other day and they are made by eisemann (PSE right?).
In first gear they are pretty loud, but as soon as I hit second under normal driving it gets real quiet. Then around 4-4.5k they get loud again. Is this how its supposed to be?
