Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Another, twist is that this only happened after I got a vaccum line fixed (for the intake change I was told), before that it was consistent accross the entire rev range.

If yours changes sound depending on engine speed and gear selected I suspect you have the brain.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Alright newbie to the P-car exhaust scene. I bought a 99 with aftermarket mufflers, I got under there the other day and they have an eisemann label (PSE right?).
In first gear they are pretty loud, but as soon as I hit second under normal driving it gets real quiet. Then around 4-4.5k they get loud again. Is this how its supposed to be? Another, twist is that this only happened after I got a vaccum line fixed (for the intake change I was told), before that it was consistent accross the entire rev range. Any Ideas??

cohare - the PSE has bypass flaps which are controlled by the ECU. It opens the flaps at certain speeds and in certain gears in response to throttle openings. It is quiet at certain speeds because those are the ones used to measure sound levels in certain jurisdictions. Clever no? You can modify it to run loud all the time. Search this forum. You can also install a switch which will give you the option of quiet or loud.
Bob- I really appreicate your help. My car didnt come with PSE codes from the factory, if this was dealer installed or aftermarket installed would they still come with the ECU controled flaps? Also, mine is a 99 was that even an option in 99?
You can pull the plug out of the solenoid that controls the bypass valves in your engine compartment.
No more muted exhaust at lower speeds.

Cohare - aftermarket PSE was made available and several site sponsors sold them (
www.carnewal.com
) for example. They came two ways - with the brain and without. If yours changes sound depending on engine speed and gear selected I suspect you have the brain. There is no PSE for a GT3 unfortunately so I cannot speak from personal experience. If you do a Search on PSE I'm confident you will find posts showing exactly how you can fix it to be loud all the time, or install a switch. Neither is difficult from what I have read. They sound good in the loud mode!
Best,
cohare - as I said use the search function. For example I found this:
