Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I upgraded to Focal components in the front, coax fills, and JL subs. Audison amp. And man it sounds great! Only thing is -> now I have a rattle somewhere in the dash. Well it sounds like the dash anyway. It may be transferring from the trunk, or somewhere else, but I can't really tell while I'm driving. Basically, when the car is moving, something is rattling. When I push on the gas, the rattling gets louder. Sad thing is, my fiancee can't drive a stick ("what's this other pedal for" - doh!) and she can't locate the rattle when I'm driving. Oh the rattles in my C2! I can't shake 'em! Anyone have experience in "tightening up" the loose parts in one of these babies? Looks like a Saturday with zip ties and tape is coming up... -td

POST 2Original post

First I would try the foam rope for the windshield. I had windshield creaking and put the rope in and it cleared that up along with some dash rattles that I thought were not from the windshield.

POST 3Original post

is there a detailed explanation/document showing how to apply the foam rope? Mine is still under warranty, should i just bring it to the dealer (i.e. is it covered under warranty)?

POST 4Original post

I bet it's due to your new Hi-Fi system that made one of the front speaker on the door loose and rattle. I complained similar rattle noise and dealer found a loose passenger speaker. After tightening, that loud rattle is gone. Check your speaker and save yourself an hour of labor that dealer charged me for. Actually I took the car in for coolant tank leak and asked them to check this rattle for me while they are at it. Good luck!
