Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

For sourcing another cover to practice on before committing to your good one, I'd check car-part.com for salvage yards parting out a donor car in that color, or reach out to a Porsche interior specialist since a lot of them keep take-off parts from restoration jobs that never get relisted publicly.

If you're only changing the rears for autocross, flexing the panel a bit a few times a season is probably less damaging than permanently modifying it.

Right now I can change settings on all four shocks in five minutes, but this would be of great convenience.

Out of curiosity, what settings do you use on your PSS10s for autocross and street driving?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the PSS10 Bilstein suspension. The rear shock adjustments are on the top and are accessible from the interior of the cab. The horizontal / rear carpet cover (names and part numbers never seem to match) is a bottom layer of foam and covered with carpet. It pops right up to allow easy access to shock settings. The part is very roughly 40" x 14".
Has anyone "cut" the cover/foam on each side so you can pop out a small piece - maybe 4"x4" - of the cover instead of forcibly bending the entire part out? I'm thinking this would cause less wear on the part. I tried to locate a second example of the part to cut, but to no avail. It is metropole blue if anyone knows where I can get one. Actually, gray or black would work just fine.
I'm autocrossing and it would be very convenient. Right now I can change settings on all four shocks in five minutes, but this would be of great convenience.
I've seen it done on a 997 with Ohlins R&T.
Instead of a square it was a circle cut out, a hole drilled in the middle of the round piece (2-2,5" diameter) and a loop of strap fabric (think RS door straps) was pulled through. A knot on the back/bottom side held the loop in place. Grab the strap to pull the plug to remove, push the plug to fit it back.
No pictures unfortunately but it looks very nice and works a charm.
Haven't seen anyone attempt that exact cutout modification, but honestly your instinct about wear makes sense, repeatedly flexing a full 40x14 piece of carpet-backed foam is going to fatigue the material way faster than popping a small hinged section. If you go this route, I'd score the foam layer first with a fresh blade and only cut through the carpet backing on three sides, leaving one edge as a hinge, that way the flap stays attached and self-aligning rather than becoming a loose piece you have to fish back into place every session. I'd probably leave the panel intact. They're getting harder to find, and once it's cut there's no going back. If you're only changing the rears for autocross, flexing the panel a bit a few times a season is probably less damaging than permanently modifying it. If you can find a spare panel cheap, then I'd have no problem cutting that one for easy access and keeping the original on the shelf. That seems like the best of both worlds.
My thoughts exactly. Hinged. Never been to car-part.com so I'll check it out. I've been monitoring ebay. And I'm looking for a 2nd version that can be charcoal, gray or black to cut while the original sits on the shelf.
And I might change the settings 2-3 times a day. About to install a sway bar and kinda starting over on the suspension settings.
Thanks for the feedback.
