Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I ran a set of 17" Winter M2's on my C4, they actually work better in the snow than 18' tires but you need spacers.
Leading evidence: 'Run set of 17" winter m2's' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run set of 17" winter m2's' (1 discussions). Heh...actually...I'm all for being lazy and using all-seasons....but 2 dealers I talked to..both said use winter tires on the C4 for winter....so it got in my head.

I feel that if it was used for a daily driver, my excitement for driving it would not be appreciated.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
How affective is the C4 for year around driving?
I live in NJ and often frequent up to Springfield, MA, and Montreal, Canada?
I guess...the reason I ask..is it better for me to get a C2 and another car? or get a C4?
thanks,
Amir
Rennlist member "T2" lives in MA/RI and has driven his 996TT X50 over 100K miles, all year round. The AWD system appears to be very capable of surviving the Northeast.
Before last winter, I scrapped my 993 and Lexus for a C4. I could not be happier with this decision.
I did purchase a set of wheels with snows. You would likely want to do this with a C2 or C4.
I drove my car all this winter with winter tires, including the big blizzard, without problems. The limiting factor is the low ground clearance so any unplowed deep snow may leave you stuck. Keep in mind sometimes winter hazards are beyond your control i.e. other vehicles.
My C2 with PSM and narrower 17 inch snows; and have not gotten stuck on regular VT trips and snow in CT. If you expect deep snow or lots of up hill, go for the 4. I don't need it but at time it would have been helpful.
Thanks for the help..you guys validated my assumptions
.
I mean, my whole goal here on buying a Porsche is to get something different...I love my Supra and all...but I want to reduce complexity in life (aka winter car + summer car) but at the same time not be bored.
I'm thinking the C4 would be something that I could drive worry free year around....regardless of weather conditions...and it will be reliable
.
Winter tires...no biggie..used to using them growing up in Montreal.
One more question...
The cabriolet...what year did they start putting the glass rear window?
Can I survive in the winter with plastic with no defroster?
Is there a way to add in a defroster?
OR...should I just get the hard top for the cab?
thanks,
Amir
What size winter tires are recommended?
I have set of Blizzaks 205/45R17 front (or was it 205/50.. i forget) and 225/45R17 rear that just came off my 330i. Would they fit on a 911?
I ran a set of 17" Winter M2's on my C4, they actually work better in the snow than 18' tires but you need spacers. I used 6mm front and 25mm rear spacers.

I purchased a C2 and another car for the reason being that when I drive my C2 I want to appreciate the german engineering design. I feel that if it was used for a daily driver, my excitement for driving it would not be appreciated.
Funny, I was thinking about this topic just the other day. This is exactly how I feel so I drive a beater around when the weather's soggy. I lose that excitement when I start to drive my C2 all the time.
C2 is fine in winter, if it's a total blizzard out there just stay home. Amazing how us ex-Montrealers automatically assume winter tires are a must.
I could be wrong but I think Rennlist bylaw 12.3.4 b clearly state that one must not chat about winter stuff between easter and labor day....
Heh...actually...I'm all for being lazy and using all-seasons....but 2 dealers I talked to..both said use winter tires on the C4 for winter....so it got in my head.
You know us ex-Montrealers don't let blizzards stop us.
thanks,
Amir
