Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Both parts are cheap by Porsche standards :-) As Orient-Express mentioned check with dealer/Vendor for the correct PN on your model.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I keep loosing the air scoops on my car, once again I'm down to one thanks to DC's Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project. Should I just pull the other one off or purchase a new one?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, the ones that collect air for the engine just in front of the front tires on the undercarriage.

POST 4Original post

Get a new one. I've gone through at least 4 or 5 per side already (my car is slightly lowered). I think the scoop is around $20 and the flap (the other related part - sort of a spoiler) is around the same price or less. Now that you mention it, I think I need to get some as well...I'm over due for sure.

POST 5Original post

I just installed mine today... The PN for the air scoops are: 996-504-603-00 and 996-604-00, each is $9.80. The PN for the rubber lip (front wheel plash-guard) are: 996-504-503-00 and 996-504-00, each is $10.68. I ordered these parts from Jeff at Sunset Imports. Actually I did not know about the air scoops until Jeff mentioned it when I ordered the rubber lip. Hope this helps. Cheers,

POST 6Original post

Thanks for the part numbers, I'm also in need.

POST 7Original post

picture or diagram? i htink i may be missing the same part

POST 8Original post

Actually here is a diagram of these parts. The air scoops is part #8 and the rubber lip is part #4. I needed both parts on both sides and a set of screws and attachment clips. Anyway, you can check with Jeff from Sunset if you are not sure what is missing on your car. Cheers,

POST 9Original post

FYI, the P/Ns are different for 99-01 and 02 and later, and C-2 vs C4 etc. There are probably 8 versions.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, man.. Nice ca, BTW.

POST 11Original post

:gasp!: thats the part im missing on my right front fender! - its a small plastic splash guard and a ~5in rubber lip that looks like a tiny mudflap or deflector just in front of the wheel. correct?

POST 12Original post

Penguinking, YES, that rubber lip is hold down by 3 small screws and it is used as a front splash-guard when you hit a puddle of water. Mine were ripped apart from parking too close to bump-stops by PO. While you are at it, get the air-scoops as well, very easy install. Both parts are cheap by Porsche standards :-) As Orient-Express mentioned check with dealer/Vendor for the correct PN on your model. The PN I gave is for a '00 Cab. Cheers,

POST 13Original post

Hmmm.......I was told that these "lips" deflect air to the front brakes.

POST 14Original post

Botsy67: thanks for that diagram - this is funny timing - I filled up the car with gas this morning and did a quick walk around the car, noticing one of these pieces (#4 in the diagram, I think) hanging from my car - "oh ****" I said. Now I'm glad to hear this is a pretty common problem and not a big deal. In case I actually try to replace this cheap piece of rubber, do you remember where you obtained that diagram? I'd love to see a bigger one. I just googled the part number but couldn't find a picture of this stuff. I want to make sure I get the proper screws and attachment clips.

POST 15Original post

Porsche makes the parts catalog available for FREE in Adobe .pdf format.

POST 16Original post

My bad - thanks - I've learned more from this site than I ever could have imagined, and I appreciate the guidance and apologize for any dumb questions.

POST 17Original post

I just called Jeff at Sunset Imports since I wasn't sure what I was missing and he sent me that diagram. Best is to contact your local dealer or Jeff and ask them for the correct PN specific to your car model year. I got both rubber lip, air scoops and all attachment screws all for $44 including shipping to CA. Sorry for the small size pics since I had to shrink it in order to post it here. Cheers,

POST 18Original post

Try this link. It is a PDF of the 996 parts. Look for 996_USA_KATALOG https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...85&postcount=2 If you have Adobe Reader you can lok at the entire catalog. Scroll down to page 216 (using the scroll bar on the right to get the page numbers). Then you can enlarge the diargam as needed to see the detail. You can save the file on your PC, so you can reference it later, as needed. Just remember where you filed it and remember the file name. Hope this helps

POST 19Original post

I hope you know that your engine is in the back! THese scoops are there to guide air towards the front brakes to cool discs and calipers. Ciao,

POST 20Original post

In the back?... really? Damn, now I'm going to have to cancel the ram-air hood scoop I ordered yesterday! Johannes - BTW, the pic of your car in your Sig looks AWESOME!
