I do some abstract painting in my (limited) spare time, so I apply my creative juices to that, instead of using the car as my canvas.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pinch me, I must be dreaming - our beloved 2001 Seal Grey Boxster that we bought new a little over 5 years ago, has been replaced by a 2003 Arctic Silver C4S Coupe. WOW, what a car! That soundtrack from the engine is so sweet. I rarely played the stereo in the Boxster, I may never play it in the C4S! It is lightly optioned with: Bose High End Sound Porsche Crests in Headrest Aluminum/Leather Shifter/Brake Handle The car has 10K miles on it and is in like new condition. The Boxster was a great car, virtually flawless for the 29K miles we put on it. We are looking forward to many great years and miles with the C4S. The Boxster was a garage queen. But I've learned my lesson, this car is going to be driven! Thanks to all the members in the 996 forum, I learned a lot by reading your posts and look forward to joining the discussions. True story... As we parked in front of the bank to arrange the financing last night, the trip odometer on our '05 Legacy GT Wagon turned "996.0" What are the odds!?!

POST 2Original post

Welcome to the Big Boy club - Made the switch myself last year. Just think, no more chick car comments ever again!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's funny, I never thought of it as a chick car, probably because Seal Grey/Black/Black is such a manly color combo! Now, if it had been Barbie pink with a white interior...that would be another story...

POST 5Original post

WELCOME! I share your excitement. There is nothing like a 911!

POST 7Original post

what a change!!!! more car...more power...better looking and 2 (small) rear seats!! Be careful......it isn't a girly car anylonger!!! So if you step this beast on the tail..it will try to bite you! Just kidding about the girly car thing...I like the boxster....especially the new ones!

POST 8Original post

Congrats! You're gonna love that car! I am also a former Boxster owner.

POST 9Original post

Congrats! Car looks awsome. We're staying in MD for a month for surgery for my daughter, now I wish I'd thrown my C4S on the truck and brought it out here with us!

POST 11Original post

The 996 C4S is such a great 911 to get into!! Congrats!

POST 12Original post

congrads.... you will love the 911 .. i never owned a boxster but the 911 is a different car! A car you will learn to love the handeling. i have have a 930, 997.. now i drive 04 GT3 as well bought a 02 C4S two weeks ago... i love the C4S for town car, alot of nice options ssk, sound package, bose, techart wheels, full leather, radar in rearveiw mirror, crested seats, silver gauges.... but you have to love the wide ***!

POST 13Original post

Way to go! Yes drive it all the time...it just gets better.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I woke up this morning, went downstairs and looked in the garage and it is still there! The C4S is right where I parked it last night. Holy crap, I own a 911! I've only felt this way twice before, when we bought the Boxster back in 2001, and back in 1975 when I bought a 1966 Jaguar E-Type coupe. Though the Jaguar turned into a maintenance nightmare in only a few months! With Porsche CPO coverage until 2009, I don't think I have too much to worry about, except maybe for speeding tickets!

POST 15Original post

I have to pinch myself everyday to make sure I didn't dream I got this car too. Welcome to the fold!

POST 16Original post

Welcome to the family... Is it great to own a 996? I joined-in myself couple of months ago with my first P-car, and I love it so much every seconds, a dream come true for me as well. Cheers,

POST 17Original post

Nice car! Rule number one: If the car is silver the gold must GO! Buy yourself a nice black and silver crest. You will have the right "shield" on then and then the anti speeding ticket gods will smile upon you!

POST 18Original post

Nice move...and nice choice. I work away for two weeks at a time, and each time I get home and open the garage I smile. The smile widens when I start it (PSE!) and after a few corners / roundabouts with the rear end hanging out i'm laughing out loud like a lunatic! There is no better feeling... 18 months since I had that feeling first...and it just keeps getting better.

POST 19Original post

Sweet...too bad the weather has been crappy. I'll keep an eye out for you! Have fun, I know you will enjoy as I too am a previous Boxster owner.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Boxster was the garage queen. I probably drove it less than 500 miles in the rain in the 29K miles we owned it. The C4S is going to be driven. We drove the C4S down to Tysons today to have lunch with a friend. In the Boxster that would have bothered me "oh, no, the Boxster is getting wet." Today I didn't care that the car got wet and I turned on the windshield wipers and kept driving. Looking back, I was nuts to be concerned about the Boxster getting wet! Oh ya, and my wife said if I don't drive it (a lot), I can't keep it!

POST 21Original post

Artic silver looks great in the rain and snow!!

POST 22Original post

great wife. The best article I read said that Porsches that are driven and driven hard are not the ones that develop RMS etc. I must confess though that after parking the P for a week or two and driving other cars its sooooooo nice to rediscover why driving a porsche is just so good. Give it a good coat of Zaino and dont worry about the rain. What's on the list of mods?

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually, I don't have any mods planned. The only mods I did to the Boxster were to add a Porsche decal to the windstop. and go with the Porsche logo'ed tire valve caps. Heavy stuff, eh? I do some abstract painting in my (limited) spare time, so I apply my creative juices to that, instead of using the car as my canvas.

POST 24Original post

That's the right attitude! Mine gets used in all weathers, including snow! Enjoy it...and it's great fun on snow!

POST 25Original post

Mark, Welcome! I love seeing more 911s in the area. Justin

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, cool pictures! (No pun intended.) I have the Subaru Legacy GT Wagon for snowy days. I wasn't planning on driving the C4S in the snow, but I have to say those pictures sure make it look like it might be a lot of fun. I'll have to think about that...

POST 27Original post

I was amazed at how stable the car was on the slushy roads...great to drive at suitably reduced speeds. Of course you might come accross a snowy car park...ant it would be rude not to have a play: C4S Playing in the snow

POST 28Original post

Have fun with it, it truly is a great car to drive(ride-cant drive yet )! chasen 2002 artic silver C4S-techart 19in formulas, PSS9

POST 29Original post

Must be a sign? Go drive it and enjoy it. Leave the Legacy at home.
