My hands barely fit into some of the nooks/crannys just to run the RCA's from the dash to the trunk (and I've got the new scrapes/scratches to prove it).

I feel stupid asking this, but would it be OK to re-use the existing speaker wiring when retro-fitting new speakers (along with amps/head unit/etc.)?

You wouldnt be able to tell any difference if you used a high dollar, high quality wire on the full range speakers.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I feel stupid asking this, but would it be OK to re-use the existing speaker wiring when retro-fitting new speakers (along with amps/head unit/etc.)? The existing speaker wiring doesn't look that skimpy or cheap. Would it work fine or would it be a grave mistake? I plan on running new heavy ga. wiring for the subs to the back - obviously there are no OEM speaker wires going back there. Running all new speaker wire just seems like a HUGE pain in the ****. My hands barely fit into some of the nooks/crannys just to run the RCA's from the dash to the trunk (and I've got the new scrapes/scratches to prove it). Help me make this decision, I'm in a slump and feel as if I can go no further in my stereo upgrade project. If this helps, here is my other thread that lists the parts I'm using for the upgrade: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/282088-wiring-diagram-for-becker-oem-stereo-head-unit.html Thanks. Steve

Yes its fine to use the stock wiring for the high range speakers. You should use bigger , better wires for the sub. You wouldnt be able to tell any difference if you used a high dollar, high quality wire on the full range speakers. It would be mostly for theory.

Thanks! I'll get right to it... after this Becks Light. Not bad tasting really. Beer sure helps DIY'ing flow a little better.
