Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I was changing coils and plugs to chase a misfire in my 996 today and also bought spark plug tubes to change out while I'm in there. After removing the plugs though, area where the tubes normally are appears to be all metal. From looking at videos other people have a black plastic insert here but I don't even see where something could be inserted, has anyone ever seen this on a 996 before? Does mine a head from a different year or something? Normal 996 for reference: I did notice oil on the plugs but none in the tube hole so...lovely. Cheers.

Only 996.1 have plastic replaceable tubes. 996.2 do not have tubes. What year 996 do you have..?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ah good to know. Mine is a 2003 996 which to my understanding is a 996.2. Thank you for the info.
