Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check price here' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check price here' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I am, for me, new owner of an 2002, 996 Targa, with 24k miles, and I am very lucky -- best car ever owned. (Have had before: 996 cab, 928 S4, Audi A4 cab, MB CLK Cab etc...)
But I have some Qs regarding my "new" Targa, its making a YYIIEEEE sound when closing the targa roof. So now the Qs:
Have anybody tryed to grease the targa roof mecanishem ?
How to do it and with what result ??
The hatchback lid have failed by closing it self just after opening or not able to close it because the motor have closed without the hatchback been putting down, anybody tryed that and what to do ????
Looking foreward to hear from you.........
Best from Claus, Malaga, Spain
I don't have the answers for you but I have to say that your Targa is honestly one of the nicest looking I have seen. The color, wheels, areo kit...great package.
Claus, I have an '02 Targa and agree, love the car....great open air feel and the hatch is very useful.
Can't help you with your problems though, I haven't experienced what you described. I think there is a specific dealer service on the targa top though.
The latch is an automated closing system, so it might just need an adjustment. Meanwhile I guess you'll just have to re-pop it with the key or switch if it self-closes.
Love the side skirts. Checked the price here to install and paint to match - $5,000....yikes!
Claus,
The dealer has greased the top mechanism on my car twice in 20K miles. Maybe it's time for yours to get a little lubrication. I think it's probably real easy, but I've never watched so I don't know where exactly you would apply the lubricant.
I don't know what you're asking about the hatch exactly, but I had a hard time at first getting use to the automatic closing latch. Sometimes I would try to close it when it wasn't ready, and have to start over. Eventually I got use to it, and now I don't have any problems. As someone mentioned, there may also have been a service bulletin about the hatch closure mechanism; that may be a different issue.
Thanks Tim re. the side skirt pricing. The quote was from the tuning section of a local dealer. $1,000 sounds a lot more reasonable -their quote did seem nutty to me. I'll keep looking.
i'm having the same hatch issue, i dont use it much so it doesnt bother me all that much, but i sure would like to know if there is a TSB out for it, i may use it if it works...
