POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi! My name is Fredrik and I'm from Sweden. I got my first 911 April 1st 2023 after I've sold my S2000 that I had totally rebuilt from stock So i'm starting with a summarise for the last three months And the last picture of it before it was exported to Finland Its a 2000 C2 manual with OEM aerokit, when I bought the previous owner had fitted some hlins R/T coilovers After the 3.5 hour drive back home and a detail it looked like this: First modification I did was a swapping out the old PCM to a PCCM+ Love it! Had som parts on order that I wanted to get around to directly Swapping out the OEM shifter for a Numeric and changing the tail pipes back to OEM instead of the fake turbolooks During the install: After: And swapping out the window bezel for a brand new one, definitely freshens up the car Ordered a 996.2 Aerokit wing that's currently being painted Then my wheels finally arrived! Kinesis Motorsport 3pcs forged 8.5/11 18" with Michelin PS2 tires due to long delivery times on PS4S After that I removed the old phone holder and got a cup holder and the center console cubby from Rendition Due to a crack on my air box I found a 997 box on the local junkyard for cheap so I decided to swap it out with a KN airfilter and the resonans delete Really cleans up the "engine bay" And today I swapped out the old hand brake handle for a OEM carbon one that I found for a killer deal To this: Other then that I just drive it and enjoy it I'll keep this thread updated with new modifications and other fun stuff If you want to follow me on instagram its 996works Current spec: Engine and transmission Rennline Tunable semi solid mounts 997 Airbox KN Panel filter do88 resonator delete kit Porsche sport exhaust system (according to previous owner) Numeric shifter Chassie & Wheels andBrakes: hlins R/T coilovers Kinesis Motorsport K20 18" 8.5/11" Michelin PS2 tires Exterior: OEM Aerokit 996.2 Aero wing (being painted) 996.2 Cup lip (not yet fitted) LED number plate lights Interior: Alcantara interior roof lining Extended leather PCCM+ Function F1rst shift **** Nappa leather shift boot OEM Carbon handbrake cover LED interior light conversion Have great day!

POST 2Original post

Looks good. The mk2 wing on a mk1 car looks pretty good and it will be much better then the current wing... enjoy the miles(km) of smiles.

POST 3Original post

Freddworks - Welcome to the forum! From the looks of your old S2000, you are far from finished with your personal transformation of the Porsche. I’d like your perceptions comparing the two after you’ve driven some km in the 996. The Kinesis wheels are beautiful. I also swapped out the “Carrera” spoiler for a Ruf and also aero kit II spoiler. I found the smaller spoiler less effective.

POST 4Original post

Absolutely a stunning ride enjoy it’s in the right hands

Thanks for the warm welcome! Thanks! I've always liked the .2 wing! Thanks! After three months of ownership, they actually feel quite similar both cars has analog driving feel, but the Porsche has a more premium feeling overall. I'll get back to you on that after my first track day in the 996 Thank you! Next up is seats, anybody has recommendations for reclinable seats? My dog needs access to the rear seats The car will bee 95% road driven but the OEM electric seats isn't up to par for a track day

POST 6Original post

The best options if you like OEM+ are apprently 997 seats, there is a compromise when you switch to the newer seats, as they have Airbags in the bolsters which will not be connected or necessary as the 996 has door airbags. my thinking is well if i get recaros they wont have airbags in them either... I have yet to install mine, but i went for a 997 seat with as many manual controls as possible, in doing that you probably save a little bit of weight.

POST 7Original post

+1 for the 997 hardbacks. They arent great for track, but they sure are better than the sport 996 or stock 996 seats.

POST 8Original post

I dig what you've got going on with your 996, looks awesome and its going to ride minty with the Ohlins. I dig the S2K more though, the buyer got a very cool, tastefully modified example.

POST 9Original post

For seats my friend put the NRG seats in his Mustange. He still uses his 3 point belts for now and really like how they hold him in place. The nice thing about our cars is the seats r super easy to swap out. Just grab a set of seat belt buckles from a junk yard and some brackets and u r all set.

POST 10Original post

Boxster/Cayman seats fit too and can be significantly less expensive.

POST 11Original post

Id look at a set of Recaro Sportster CS's if you need the seatback adjustability. I love the pole positions in my 993 but impossible to get in the back!

POST 12Original post

Nice ride! Would fitting a fixed back driver's seat like recaro pole position while.keeping the stock passenger's seat to give your dog access to the rear seat work for you?

Thanks for the info! Got the hardbacks! Thanks! The S2k was great, but I wanted something different, I've built and tracked Hondas for almost 15 years now. Time to learn a new platform Thanks for the input! They where definitely on the list of seats, couldn't find someone in Europe who had a set in stock though Well, that would probably be the best idea, but my ADHD would go nuts with having missmatched seats, the PP seats a my favourite bucket and they look good in everything! I decided to go for the OEM+ and threw out an ad that I was looking for 997 seats. And I was offered these, they are nog sitting in my office waiting for me to fit them They are 997 GT3 sportseats with black leather and alacantara with the Porsche shield and matching color stitching that I have in the car and now for the most important part in a build thread, pictures!

POST 14Original post

^^^^ You will not be disappointed with those bad boys.

Thanks, I'm very happy with them! New weekend, time for a new modification! Thanks a lot for the recommendations for seats, super happy and impressed how low you can sit now! Old comfort seats: Passenger side in: Both fitted and working properly: And just picture of it!

POST 18Original post

Such a nice build! Super clean looking. How much of a difference did the Numeric shifter make?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18963634

It made a huge difference compared to the stock, there's no guessing game when shifting and from the longest throw I've ever experienced to a more "sporty" one. So small modification this weekend, I decided to remove the rear wiper. First I would never use due to risk of scratching the glass and second I ruins the lines of the car Before: After:

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 18980876

Good call. My car came with 'wiper delete' option, and I've never missed having a wiper there. Great car Fred!

POST 22Original post

Interesting, I like the rear wiper especially in the snow... But I have a cab with w hardtop so its not to be... We get enough rain in Oregon its a worth it item here..

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 18982292, 18984573

Thanks! A good coat of RainX or similar will has a better effect then the wiper in my opinion. And for winter the Volvo works perfect Oh, I got my hands on a .2 rear bumper witch I feel will look great with the wing, since it's getting painted tomorrow I had time to slip in the bumper which was brand new! At the painter: Did some minor upgrades today, decided it was time to swap out the oem speakers for some better ones. Found this tip here on Rennlist with these adaptors. Everything fit perfect and it took about 30mins to all speakers. 15 of them felt like the screw closest to the windscreen Removed: Adapters fitted the frame: And speakers: And if someone is interested in the products, this is what I got: Adapters: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115812481735 Wire adapters: (no need to cut in the oem harness) PC2-805 Speakers: Pioneer TS-G1020F https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/ts-g1020f Happy with the end result, the oem speakers had seen better days and this was definitely a cost worthy upgrade!

POST 24Original post

Fyi, u will need the longer mk2 tailpipes or u will melt the bumper.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18988532

Thanks for the heads up! there's some aftermarket tips on the car now that doesn't really fit that good with the .1 bumper, so hopefully they will better with the .2 And it's painted! I know what I'm doing after work today!

POST 26Original post

This is a mk1 bumper with mk2 tips. I know its the opposite of what u have but u can see they r about 2" longer. Second bumper is the mk2. Also i just remembered i had to use the mk2 muffler heat shield support and rear heat sheild parts The bottom of the bumper screw holes r in a diferent spot. Im sure i could have modified the mk1 stuff to work but i had the mk2 parts from my donor and it was a lot easier. Im sure the parts would be cheap from a recycler like DC Auto.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18989295

Thanks again! I really appreciate it. I'm going to look into the heat shield and the tips again. Got the rear wing on at least! Looks so much better in my opinion compared to the old one, color match is perfect and I'm super happy with the end result! And of course it started raining like crazy so didn't take her out, but here's some pictures from inside the garage

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18989295

Test fitted the bumper and you're correct! I've sourced some second hand heat shields, no luck on the tips yet though - the ones I have might work okey but I'm probably going to source another set! Thanks for the heads up and info On other news, took the old girl out for a nice drive and then to a local cars and coffee Love the new profile of the car! My car and my friends 997 Turbo/GT2 clone And some random pictures from the cars and coffee

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Small update today, got something fun in the mail from Rennline! Old grab handels that was starting to show its age Brand new in carbon, makes the interior just a bit better than before. Fitment was 100% and very happy with the carbon finish

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I'm basically just enjoying the car so no real updates until the winter season Swapped out the leather shift boot for a alcantara one to match the seats Got my hands on a blank cover since the 997 seats isn't heated. Looks a lot cleaner And new tail pipes and new heat shields has arrived to do the mark 2 rear bumper. So doing that that later this week

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19029446

Thanks A minor but yet very pleasing upgrade to the interior. Reupholstered the armrest in alcantara to match the seats and the new shift boot During: Final result: And fitted back into the car, super happy with the result and quite happy with it since I don't have any prior experience

POST 33Original post

Nicely done! I also have the PCCM+ and ended up hiding the box behind HVAC and storage box. It looks a bit cleaner. I also used a wireless AA / Carplay transmitter hidden back there so now I can just throw my phone in the shelve and it all works seamlessly.

Thanks! I'm not sure but I'll ask him! Correct the 996s are Arctic silver Yesterday I got my Rennline Carbon mirror covers, had to fit them immediately And today I left her to get a new windshield and seals due to a big stone chip and crack! Looks so good outside and with the new "mirrors"

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Picked her up from the local Porsche dealer with a brad new windscreen and seals, I knew my old one was bad but damn that made a huge difference. Kinda missing the banner but really like the clean look without it And a picture from today when I drove her home Oh, and I finally decided on a steering wheel! Should hopefully arrive soon, will pair it with a works bell short hub

POST 49 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Winter season is upon us here in Sweden, last wash and drive for 2023. First season with the 911 and I love it! It's defiantly a different feeling compared to my old S2k but yet familiar. Both have that analog drivers car feeling Foam party in October? Out in the sun: Wheels cleaned: And parked up for the winter:

POST 50Original post

Very nice. I usually can make it to mid dec before they brine the roads here. One day ill get to your country to explore the sites.

First snow has arrived so the 996 will sleep until march-april depending on the weather. My local Porsche dealer had a shift boot with the trim ring that they had laying around and they asked if I was interested, snagged it up for pennies I'm waiting on a new Alcantara shift boot from redline die to a warranty and fitment issue on the old one. But the trim ring really adds to the interior!

POST 52 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So had some time over and decided to start the rear bumper conversion Thanks for all the info from here, I had the mark 2 heat shields and tailpipes, license plate lights and harness, so everything went back together without any issues Swapped the heat shields: Bumper on: And I got an oem shift **** with the shift boot so I decided to try that, love it. That's staying in the car!

Since the winter season is here I continued with some interior modifications I have a real soft spot for carbon interiors. Luckily for me I found a new in box OEM carbon stereo surround that I had to get. Looks so much nicer than the oem plastic one. And I'm going to do a modification that I've always wanted to to but never got around to, coloured seat belts! New OEM belts in red will look so good! Hopefully I'll find the time to swap them in tomorrow And last but not least, needed an interior upgrade at the home office!

POST 62 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got the seat belts in, wow they made a huge difference! Super happy with the result And a new license plate frame, I'm such a nerd...

POST 63Original post

Car just keeps looking better and better! Love the red belts!

POST 64Original post

The splash of red and splash of carbon is a great combo. Should update your stitching too to match the steering wheel, lots of pain as that may be

POST 65Original post

Looks fantastic. Wish I wouldve done the seat belts before the cage install.

POST 66 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 19124375, 19125555, 19125744

Thanks bro The seat belts really kicked the whole interior up a notch! Haha, yeah the thought has crossed my mind... Yeah the cage will not do you any favours when swapping them, since you need to pry out the side panel a bit. But they are worth getting so you can do it whenever you have a couple of spare hours Got a package from Rennline today, was missing the carbon armrests to finalise the door cards Before After And a overview picture of the office:

POST 67 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So something came up, I decided that with the momo wheel it was a little bit to much race car and not the sports car it is. So I found a T96 steering wheel in black leather and alcantara with red stiching and a red band Looks way more OEM+ which I prefer on this car. Only four more months until next season! The steering wheel The interior:

POST 68Original post

Love that new wheel! Dang your interior looks fantastic. Keep us, or selfishly me, updated!

Thanks! There's some more upgrades in the pipeline Since we have around -17 degrees here in Sweden currently the 996 is just chilling in the garage First real modification of 2024, got a killer deal on a Tequipment roll over bar that I had to get Since I probably need to take the car outside to fit it I decided I would try it out with my play seat

POST 70 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Small but fun update, details matter Had a small crack in my old key case so I decided to upgrade to a Tequipment Looks way nicer then the old one

POST 71 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Forgot about this, decided to try a discreet logo on the side just to break up all the silver Super happy with this

POST 74 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 19241945, 19244750

Thank you! Thanks! Looks way better than the old black plastic one! Some more small updates, new set of OEM side markers since the old ones had some sun cracks and are +20 years old And a extremely useful modification, Tequipment gas cap... Looks good though! And since it still winter over here I found a good deal on a indoor cover so I snagged that up

POST 75 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I decided I needed to get som more carbon in the interior! Got a center console from DB Carbon and fitted it today Old vs new: And the office: Unfortunately winter is till here so no driving yet! But I got to pick up my new Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid AWD, 405hp, perfect daily New XC60 vs old XC60 I have some more track prep in the pipe line and keep you updated as parts arrive

POST 76Original post

Love it! We have very similar taste and Ill be doing the red belts on mine, though it has a gray interior with all the carbon bits.

POST 77 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19305613

Thanks! Red seat belts always looks good! Yeah the carbon really improves the interior, there is definitely room for improvement compared to my original spec It's almost been a year since I bought it now and the interior has had som upgrades To this:

POST 78 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Time to do some preventative upgrades before I take her out to the track My FVD X51 oil pan showed up, really impressed with the quality Next parts I'm waiting for is Girodiscs 340 rotors

POST 79Original post

Man I love this car. Beautiful interior. OEM+ indeed

POST 80Original post

Quotes source post: 19315581

If you can log oil pressure, definitely keep an eye on it. I also ordered Girodisc 340/325 rotors, you're gonna love them. Not that I'm taking my car to the track before it's got a UIDS on it but the hat opens up so many options for futureproof rotor replacements.

Thanks a lot I'm still waiting on my brakes to show up... But I found a good looking gurney flap for the wing so I placed a order via Joe Toth Should hopefully arrive before the season starts here, we are expecting more snow this weekend...

POST 83 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So yesterday spring arrived and I took the first drive of the year! I don't think I've been more exited to take a car out of hibernation ever and a interior shot Loving the interior right now! And today we have snow... so back to sleep

POST 84 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So the day started with a drive to my local Porsche specialist for its annual service and get the FVD X51 oil pan installed Lovely weather we are having ... The car passed all their tests with flying colors and they were impressed with the overall condition of it. Super happy about that! Oil pan installed:

POST 85 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update from a cold Sweden! My brakes finally arrived, now I need to find the time and fit them! Finally a day without snow or rain (so far). So the day started like almost every day with the Porsche. At the gas station. Took a drive down to my friends paint shop who has fixed the small blemished and painted my gurney flap At the paint shop: And then we fitted it, very happy with the end result and my idea of painting it half silver and black to give it that oem+ feeling And then I took a long drive home

POST 86 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A sunny Tuesday and a half day at work, took the 911 for a nice long drive. Can't get over how good it looks! That's some good fitment That side profile though

POST 87Original post

Sir - You’ve got it pretty close to perfect. Kudos. Wise moves made. Tough to leave it in the garage? Spend spare moments thinking of how to make time to drive the car? Always pondering the best way to keep the wheels clean? Check the weather to plan your next car wash session? Fun to have a car that stirs so much emotion. I never thought my 996 would catch my eye over and over and over…and that’s just one pass-by. Every time. Now you’ve got the car pretty close to your initial vision. You’ll be feeling symptoms of “now what can I improve? fever kick in soon.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes on all questions ... Well I did place an order for a preventative macitence part today! Haha, thanks! Everybody knows that all good things comes in threes Small update, I know it's not an issue but I don't like how the temp slowly creeps up when sitting in traffic. So I placed an order for a FVD Center radiator kit That should take care of that. The side radiators a clean and fairly new. And then I took her to the local dealar for a software update on my PCCM+

POST 91Original post

Did they charge you for the PCCM+ update? Mine needs one since it does the trip reset randomly. Otherwise works well.

POST 92 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, free of charge since it's still under the two year warranty Oh I forgot that placed an order for these a while back, delivery sometimes this summer Happy to get rid of the black plastic in favour of carbon

POST 116Original post

Quotes source post: 19658934

You have done a beautiful job with the car. Appreciate your attention to detail. If you havent already, its time for the UAOS Track and a new water pump. Better oil processing and no need for broken plastic fan bits.

POST 117 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19659516

Thank you so much! I have the FVD X51 baffle on the car right now, seems to work pretty well. Reg the waterpump, that's a good idea to look into, any specific pump you recommend?

POST 118Original post

Quotes source post: 19660068

Unfortunately the FvD x51 baffle is a good looking piece, but it doesn't do anything to fix a poorly designed oem AOS system that can't even process oil at factory recomended oil levels, forget about adding a small 0.5qt FVD sump or a large 2qt LN deep sump on your M96. You are just asking for problems with exhaust smoking, hydralock, oil leaks, coolant leaks, intermix, vacuum leaks, etc. Easy long term fix with UAOS Track. Go with the oem water pump. Replace every 5 years regardless if you want too or not. You don't want one to fail. Head and cylinder cracking is the result.

POST 119 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19660097

Ah yes, for some reason my brain thought you meant the UIDS... I've been looking at the UAOS as well, doesn't seem to be super easy to get a hold of in Sweden/Europe though. The engine is new since 2019 and only done 25000 km since, are the water pumps so sensitive?

POST 120Original post

Quotes source post: 19660213

Yes. Think about it for a second. You have a brand new engine and just spent a fortune on making the car pretty. Why would you want to skimp on an AOS and water pump to easily and cheaply protect the engine?

POST 121 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19660218

Can't argue with that. And I'm always for a modification that keeps the car on the road. Thanks for the feedback!

POST 122Original post

Beautiful car, I love everything youve done. I just picked up my own 996 last month and have new rims/tires/audio system on the way, but one thing I cant get over is my terribly ugly aftermarket cup holder the last owner had installed. Then, I saw yours and felt great envy. Its perfect. Can you tell me what make/model it is and how it is installed?

POST 123 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19662553

Thanks a lot! The cup holder is from Rendition on Etsy Super easy to fit, you swap out one of the covers on the center console and it just snaps in. The sun is still shining here in Sweden so might as well enjoy it. Had to get a new MAF due to the old one starting to act up. Some pictures from today

POST 124 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not real updates, still winter here in Sweden. But I've gathered some parts for the upcoming season The pile, some new new and some from last year that didn't get fitted Wasptech 200 catted X-pipe

I've ordered some service parts as new water pump, thermostat, belts and pulleys just to keep everything up to date. Exhaust update: All gone: And fitted: I got a good deal for a IPD plenum so might as well try it. Your 996 is looking great, worth the effort! FWIW, I have the same set of wheels you have in the background leaning against the wall. I bought a set that were used for "driving events". not perfect. However, diligent cleaning and polishing got them up to about 90%, really good, but not perfect. I wanted an "open look" wheel, 5-spokes, P or BBS, C4S sizes 8x18 + 11x18. Crazy how similar our cars are going to end up unintentionally. I'm planning the x2 rear bumper as well, but because I have the .2 side skirts. My Apex wheels are very similar to yours. Also have the GT3 front bumper, and am lowered. I remember when I first saw your car on IG I was both in love and disappointed, haha. For the same reasons. It's exactly the look I had planned and was neat to see it in real life, outside of my imagination, but disappointed that it's basically already been done. At least you are in a different country. POST 186Original post

Quotes source post: 19241945

Agreed! I only recently bought my 99. These photos make me drool. All I've done so far is having it repainted (same color). I'm not enamored with red, but I'm want to keep it pretty much stock. It's my retirement gift to myself. The clear coat was peeling off all over looking pretty snarky, but due to that I picked it up for a song. Interior is spotless though including the frunk interior. I do want to get new interior door handles though. The originals look terrible with the silver worn through to gray plastic over 80%. I'm retired now, so give me a few years before I can bring mine up to the same level of refinement. But awesome doesn't come close to describing what you have accomplished. Absolutely gorgeous and tastefully done.

Its worth a shot Thank you so much for the kind words. Seems like you have a good plan ahead then. Might be time to start documenting it here on rennlist?
