Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm running so2's now and was thinking about switching to ps2's.
Run on low pressure had caused the conti sidewalls

Suggestion
Turned out running on low pressure had caused the Conti sidewalls to start to disentegrate - I mean I had rubber crumbles all inside the tire.

Michelin has earned my business through personal testing of the tires.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2002 996 cab. Front 225/40/18 Rear 285/30/18. Pilot Sports are $1,117 total including mount, balance, tax. Conti2s are $905 total including mount, balance, tax. Are the Pilot Sports worth the extra $200+?
I have tried almost every tire...seriously. I think they are worth it...I would pay more if I had to.I will not run any other tire..I mean that. Ok I lied i run yok AO48's for the track but i am going to try the pilot sport cups next.
Funny this should come up. I took my 03 C2 in to have the passenger side rear tire looked at - constant slow leak. Turned out running on low pressure had caused the Conti sidewalls to start to disentegrate - I mean I had rubber crumbles all inside the tire.
I didn't hesitate to swap out both rears for new Pilot Sports @ $289 ea. They did well on my E46 M3 - good traction, low road noise, great daily driver/sport tire.
comparing michelin ps2 vs conti.... are you kidding me. i wont put conti on my minivan. ps2 is probably the BEST street tire available today if you are talking about dry grip.
I have ps2's and love them. I got excited because there is the A/S pilots available and the treadwear is 400 vs. 220 or 240 (can't remember what the ps2's are), but they don't come in my size!
Let me also jump in here and say that Contis are awful. Do a search in the forum and you'll find dozens of posts lamenting this tire as original equipment on many cars. Truly, I like my winter Goodyears more. Get the Michelins. But to me, I am trying the Goodyear F1s next. Just too many great things said about them.
I have run Michelin (PS2), Conti (Sport Contact) on the street, and Bridgestone (S02) on the track. I can tell you this. As soon as these hunk of crap Conti's wear out I am moving back to the PS2 for the street. As for the track, while I love the S02 on the track I have progressed now in my track life that PS Cups are the next track tire for me.
Michelin has earned my business through personal testing of the tires. That is really the only true way to determine which fits the bill for you. But I am sure most would agree, the Conti's are crap. However, the Conti's phenomenal (dtect sarcasm) grip allow me to do some fun power slides with the wife in the car
Yeah, she really loves it when I do that.....but of course I continue.
I'm with mooty.. I have conti's on mine and can't wait for them to wear. Either the roads in VA are really bad or the tires are just plain ole loud...
i've heard good things about the ps2 and so2. What about the so3?
From what I have heard around the board, the S03 will save you a few bucks but they will wear faster and do not have as much grip as the S02. Also, the S03 is NOT a N-Rated tire. Personally, I love the S02, especially on the track.
See what I mean. I swear Dell, you have me so freaked out with this N-rating that I really am considering the PS2 or the S02. But come on, admit it, doesn't the Goodyear tread just look awesome, particularly in the wet?
n-rated, r-rated what's the diff? Me personally, if it's DOT approved and on the market I think its safe for the kind of pansy driving I do on the street..
Just a feel. I really felt that the S02 (not the S02A) was giving me a slight more grip but the rear end break was easier to feel when I pushed it hard and could easily recover. But if it came down to it the two would rate about equal in my books. I am going to the PS2 for the street and the PS Cups for the track this summer.
REGARDLESS, THE CONTI'S WERE HORRIBLE!!!!
I had the S03 on with my BBS LM's I hated these tires, I don't care if a tire is noisy or not, but these tires were just junk...Some may disagree and thats o.k. I felt these tires had no grip when getting into the corners, I am not sure if they are better or worse the the conti's but they are not near the level of the Pilot sports
My M3 came with PS2 and they were good, but when I moved to a 19" rim I switched to the S-03's. For me, they had better grip than the Michelin's - wet and dry - although they were noisier, and tramlined worse (could have been the size).
