Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Like I said before, the top does work, open and close, when I use the key in the door lock. My wife said it worked yesterday for her.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

You might try cleaning the existing switch with electronics "tuner cleaner" or similar, but the switch is an inexpensive part.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.
1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.
Just went to operate the cabriolet top from the switch inside and it would not operate. I could hear 2 light clicking noises from behind the rear seats but the top would not operate. I put the key in the door lock to operate it and it operates normal, both open and close. but still will not operate from the switch.
when I hold the switch tha top indicator on the instrument panel flashes 4 times.
any thoughts?
2000 c2 cabriolet
How many miles on the car? Just curious how often the top went through the up and down motion.
On mine before I bought it, the owner found that the top was not working. They determined that "lifting bolt fell out and resecured it. 480 IP".
I had a similar problem recently on my 2000 C4 cab. After researching here and on Renntech, I checked the known side flap problem and also added some hydraulic fluid. Neither solved the problem. Turned out the dash switch had gone bad. Simple $17 fix. Before checking the other two items, try swapping out the dash switch with one of the other switches.
only 48000 miles. Just bought it 2 weeks ago, and the top has been working fine every day until now. Like I said before, the top does work, open and close, when I use the key in the door lock.
My wife said it worked yesterday for her.
Happened to me, swore it was something wrong with the top. Check the engine lid. Mine was not completely closed. Lookec closed, but a simple pop the trunk and then close it was all that was necessary.
hopefully yours will be a similar fix
It is under the parking brake handle inside the center console assembly. It is a bit of a pain to replace, as there is little room in which to work. You must remove the center console to gain access. Do a search on center console removal to see if you can find a link to instructions.
just go to B&M website and download the instructions for the short shifter installation. The first part deals with center console remove to gain access to the shifter, and ergo, the parking brake handle base.
It is a Porsche part. Don't know the part #. You might try cleaning the existing switch with electronics "tuner cleaner" or similar, but the switch is an inexpensive part.
