Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

Forget the Vertex "HID upgrade" -- it is a waste of money and is not a TRUE HID upgrade since it doesn't replace your headlight assembly with the projector-style lens to give you the sharp cut-off (so as not to blind oncoming vehicles).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, it was actually mine yesterday, but I've been busy racking up the miles! 2000 C2, 44k miles (well, 44.5k now!), CPO, and it's great. Basalt Black on graphite grey interior. Colored wheel crests, supple leather, PSM, chrome tips. When I was born, my parents had two 911s in the driveway. I was carted everywhere in the back seat of one... so the sound of a 911 engine is one of the most familiar sounds in the world to me. I can hear it from a mile away. That said, my dream has come true. That said, my dream needs a few tweaks. Not many, just some finishing touches. Just Litronics and white gauge faces. Maybe, *maybe* that Fabspeed muffler bypass... I'm tempted to say I'm "gung-ho" enough to live with them every day. I loved the sound. I'll wait until the weather is warmer to see if doing more window-down driving will sate my taste. What's the best way to do litronics? I should be able to get them for dealer cost, but I wonder if that's still (significantly pricier) than aftermarket. I heard the Vertex kit has some issues, though... Oh, and on the camaraderie note: seen two Porsches on the road so far. First guy didn't take his eyes off his speedo, second guy (Black 996 too!) stopped dead next to me at light wouldn't even glance my way Finally, I'm curious - I know there are a lot of D.C folk around - say hi!

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh yeah - I don't seem to have two stalks on the left of the wheel - was the on-board computer an option?? I see it in the manual, but not on the car. Don't tell me it was optional! (Also: that may or may not be a '67 911S under the cover in the background!) -Justin

POST 4Original post

Hi Justin, Love the black/grey combination. As for camaraderie, I always wave & smile (even if the other doesn't) . So if you see me on 95/495/66 or anywhere else in the DC area (black 00 996 cab "blissful"), wave & smile back! Welcome! JM

POST 6Original post

Nice addition to the family Justin. DC has a great local Porsche Club scene. I hope to see you and the new new ride out at Summit point some time this summer! -KJ

POST 7Original post

Welcome to the family. As I am sure you've noticed, there are A LOT of Porsches in the area. I always wave if I see a fellow Porsche driver although sometimes I miss the chance if I am going too fast or just not paying enough attention. The ones who usually wave back are the 911 drivers and the 944, 951 and 928 drivers. I rarely get a wave back from the Boxster and Cayenne drivers. Also, if they wave back then chances are they are a Dorki. If you haven't already, check out http://www.dorkiphus.com -- it is a local Porsche forum where you can find info on track events and fun runs. They also get together every now and then for some wrenching. As for the Litronics, well, stick with the Litronics. Forget the Vertex "HID upgrade" -- it is a waste of money and is not a TRUE HID upgrade since it doesn't replace your headlight assembly with the projector-style lens to give you the sharp cut-off (so as not to blind oncoming vehicles). I bought my Litronic Retrofit Kit from Brandywine Porsche for $1,100 shipped. Get it -- you won't regret it.

POST 12Original post

Welcome! The fabspeeds are LOUD! But it might float your boat . Most PCar drivers here in Denver wave. Except the Boxster and Cayann crowd. The mod bug will get you................................for WHEELS

POST 13Original post

Congrats and welcome Justin!! Another 996 in the metropolitan area .

POST 14Original post

CONGRATULATIONS!! Welcome to the group! It will be hard to limit the mods myself but I was able to do it by considering engineering that the porsche engineers put into each of the OEM parts. Most importantly, if I'll be losing reliability to attain performance, I don't do it. On the camaraderie, I think the snob folks are the types who just want to be seen in a porsche. The ones that waves and say hi are the enthusiasts. I myself, flash the headlights and wave at any p cars I see.
