3) are there any tricks to replacing the cam sensor seal or can I simply unscrew the sensor, replace the seal and screw it back in?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi -- Can anyone identify the source of the problem here? Thx, Mark

POST 2Original post

looks wet on the cam position sensor. $1.00 seal. 20 minutes to replace.

POST 3Original post

Cam Cover. Common leak area. Try snugging up the 2 bolts.

POST 4Original post

I think he's doomed to catastrophic engine failure, sorry for the bad news.

POST 6Original post

Had a similar issue. Dealer replaced plug seals.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For the record, i can change my own oil and brakes pads and I even installed aluminum rings around my gauge cluster BUT ......... 1) what are the plug seals? 2) is the cam cover the same as the cam sensor? 3) are there any tricks to replacing the cam sensor seal or can I simply unscrew the sensor, replace the seal and screw it back in? Thx

POST 8Original post

Yours looks closer to cam seals than plug (spark plug seals).....but the only reason I bring it up is I thought mine (similar issue) was cam seals and when the dealer took a closer look the source of the leak was actually the o-ring seals under the coil packs where the plugs are. If I am not mistaken they did all 6.
