Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it me or is the P suddenly more willing to GO.....??? and it is louder, maybe it is my imagination! Anybody having done the fabspeed cold air intake and felt the same?? If it is just my imagination...well..it was only 200 bucks..exhaust will be next!

POST 2Original post

I think it might be louder...but I dont know about the power....

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

not so much the power just the pick up...I have a tip and always felt that it was sluggish..just feels a little more willing...like I said...it might be my happy imagination...felt a little dissapointed when I got the small box with only a red hose and a carbon fiber LOOKING replacement cap....could have made it myself with homedepot materials...but it works for me.....for now!

POST 4Original post

If you feel it then it is working for you, I don't know maybe it really does work on the tip, but the inportant thing here is that your as giddy as a schoolgirl!! LOL

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I first read the posts on Rennlist about all the "maniacs" and their mod's I thought NOT ME! Stupid cars...i bought it the way it is and that's it! RIGHT>>>> these last 2 weeks spend over 2K. Love it!!!

POST 6Original post

doesn't the "orange cap" mod accomplish the same?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think it does...but when I bought the fabspeed and never really checked how it all worked,,,the last time I worked on an engine it had a carburator and the airfilter was sitting on top and was round and flat. I have seen the orange (90cnts) cap mod....but felt that a 200 dollar red silicone hose (must cost about 20bucks an inch!!!) would uplift the engine compartment a little. Maybe I should be more careful with my money....please don't tell my wife!!!

POST 9Original post

Somebody reported a 4hp increase on the dyno a while back, I used to have it on mine, def pulled a little better on the top end, should've kept it.

POST 10Original post

I have been thinking about making my own cold air intake. Found some silicone hoses at reasonable prices.

POST 11Original post

This orange cap mod: http://www.smiley.net/orangecap.htm There's a ton of posts about this mod on the forum. Supposedly it's the extra value (read, free) version of PSE. Anyone have a spare cap they could send me? Niagra Plastics must be going nuts trying to figure out why so many free samples have been sent out with zero orders coming in.

POST 12Original post

Originally the Fabspeed Cold Air Intake kit included a part to eliminate the pre-MAF grid (it's on their video), but if you go to the website they took that part out of the kit. Anybody know why? Did it affect the MAF? BTW, has anybody else noticed that Fabspeed's not really a "COLD Air Intake", the intake air is still sucked in from the same location and travels the same path. They swapped out to a cotton filter, replaced some corrugated tube and closed off a resonator box. Now if only somebody came up with a ram air intake...

POST 13Original post

What about Schnell Cold Air Intake by Vertex?

POST 14Original post

Keep us posted if you do, I'll be very interested of the outcome.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I also purchased a K&N filter..should give me better air...will let you guys know when I get it and install it. I just wanted a little better sound (which I got) and I just took the P out and it has a better pick-up. I thought I was imagining it just after putting it in...but with my Tip..it really picks up better.

POST 16Original post

I used The Schnell kit and thought the extra power was my imagination too. Now I'm not so sure........works for me. Elliot

POST 19Original post

i bought a schnell kit from ebay, its like $100 cheaper than fabspeed. I tried to paint it with high temp black paint cause i dont like the orange color... the paint began to chip/peel because of some flex or expansion of the tube i guess. I will try to wrap it with some black tape to achieve better results, has anyone else tried something similar?
