Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can't find the answer to this one in the manual so here goes. Today when I disconnected my battery to put it on an overnight trickle charge, the alarm went off. The only way I could cancel it was to connect the battery back up again, turn the key in the driver door and press the alarm fob a couple of times. My manual say the alarm is disabled when the battery is disconnected, but clearly there is a battery backup in there somewhere. Any advice on how to temporarily disable the alarm would be appreciated. This is also useful to know for a battery swap. Thanks in advance, Greg

POST 2Original post

A UK car has an alarm siren with a built-in rechargeable battery. We do not have this in the US. If you disconnect the main battery then siren goes off since the siren is powered by the battery in the siren. You also have a tilt sensor that we do not have in the US. Never seen a UK car but I know how to turn it off....
