When you use your neddle nose plies to remove the tiny clip which is inserted into the inside of the pin, be very very careful not to drop or loose that pin, say, in the grass, etc.

Hi guys, I want to change my brake pads by myself for the first time. I know, I know, what kind of lazy person am I to never change brake pads before I used to have people do it all the time for me. Can anyone please guide me step by step on how to do it on the 996 C4S? and what kind of tools I need. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. Richard

Renntech.org has a great DIY section. That's where I learned to change my pads. Have it down to about 30 minutes all the way around now!

Richard, it's pretty easy. But I have a tip for you: After you remove the wheels you'll see a pin that holds the "spring" mechanism in place behind which you'll see the pads between the calipers and rotors. When you use your neddle nose plies to remove the tiny clip which is inserted into the inside of the pin, be very very careful not to drop or loose that pin, say, in the grass, etc. below. After loosing one, I now place a white towel underneath the area so that I can keep track of this little PITA cliip. I tried to buy several, but could get them...no matter where I went. BTW, if any of you have a source for these, please let me know. I could use a few extra.
