Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone please tell me whether the Porsche OE radio in the 996's (CDR 23) made by Becker requires a code to activate it once it has been removed from the car? Have a friend who is contemplating removal (not an internet user) on a car that he bought used without a manual for the radio. THANKS for any help. Gary Knox

POST 3Original post

I pulled the CDR 23 out of my 2003 C2 Cab with the Bose system a week ago to install a trim piece. When I plugged it back in it worked fine. Don't forget you need the radio removal keys to do this. I got them at the dealer for $5.50.

POST 4Original post

I think it'll ask for a code to activate once you unplug the harness. The code is on a card (look in manual packet or hood sticker. I think you can get the code from a dealer w/ proof of ownership too. Not sure if that'll cost you. HenryM, did you just pull out the HU without disconnecting the harness?

POST 5Original post

my owners manual says the radio is mated with the car ...no code needed. my dealer confirmed this. this is on a 03 though....

POST 6Original post

The CDR-23 does not have a code. If you had a CDR-23 before it can be put back in the car without any other action. If you move it to another car it will likely need to be initialized by someone with PST2 or PIWIS tester.

POST 7Original post

I just finished installing new CF pieces around the stereo. I pulled the plastic pieces out and the whole nav. system. Had to unplug it to remove the bezel from the back. Plugged it back in ...worked fine. BTW don't need a removal key???
