Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion · Original poster

I have searched the history on how to turn the daytime running lights on and the fuse jumper is a great easy fix....but, what exactly does the dealer do differently that they charge 2 hours labour totalling $200 Cdn.

Makes no sense so I just use the DRL's.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally got into a 911! I know this topic has come up before...but bear with me. I have searched the history on how to turn the daytime running lights on and the fuse jumper is a great easy fix....but, what exactly does the dealer do differently that they charge 2 hours labour totalling $200 Cdn. Is it 100X better solution? Does jumping fuses do any harm? Any insight to this would be great.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Funny how a shiny key head gets 6 pages and a tech question gets zero. No gripe...just an idea. Anyone want to trade their land for beads and mirrors?

POST 3Original post

maybe it's because no one has done this mod before. search is your friend. BTW, US cars don't get DRLs

POST 5Original post

My 2001 C4 now has 20,000 miles and the seat heat fuse "links" to enable DRLs (5W headlight assembly bulbs and parking/street/tail) is still working fine and no detrimenatl effects insofar as I know.

POST 6Original post

Been trying to figure out how to disable the DRL's myself, but still keep the rear license plate lights on. I don't understand it. Why is the US version wired differently than the Canadian version of this car with respect to the license plate light? Makes no sense so I just use the DRL's. Whatever.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

wwest, thanks for the reply. Practically speaking, I guess that's all I really needed to know. Why complicate things if I don't have to. Fuse "linking' is what i'll do. Thanks again.

POST 8Original post

The key thing is only 7 pages. I will tell you what little I know since I'm in the US. Our cars are missing a double relay, a relay that is twice the size of the others. You cannot just plug in the relay and have thing work because the socckets where the relay plugs into are not wired. The relay tray is removed and wired. That takes time.

POST 9Original post

most people prefer to disable the DRL's... Why do you want them on?

POST 10Original post

Most of us with common sense, even only an iota thereof, recognize that any small thing that potentially increases our life's duration is worth the effort. If you're worried about the energy consumed that convert all the DRL "functions" to LEDs as I did.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is originally a US car. In order to pass Can. Federal inspection the DRL's must be activated. I have no personal interest in having them. Tool Pants, thanks for the insight. Not that I'm interested but, I guess dealers don't make that info readily available, do they?

POST 12Original post

Sell it and buy a Canadian car...I know of a really nice 04 C2 that will be in the market soon.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is energy really a concern? I mean do batteries and alternators last longer on cars without DRL's?... does Bhp reduce?....is fuel consumption an issue?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nice pics! The mods look great. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, why does yours have '911' on the rear and mine has 'Carrera'?
