Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Repair however' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair however' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I swapped out my face gauges this weekend. It was an easy job.
Remove cluster from dash - 2 screws 4 connectors
Remove gauges from surround - 2 screws
Seperate cluster - 2 screws 2 tabs 2 clips
Lift needles with a fork (old BMW cluster trick)
Pop the center O ring and lift off the face
Replace with new face and reassemble.
The only things that are not working are the far left 2 needles (Voltage and Speedo). Digital speedo works and the cruise light etc. It is just the needles that do not work.
I double checked to make sure they were not put back on to firm. I did the work on a static safe bench. The fuses look to be fine.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Maybe Toolpants will chime in. He has done a zillion of these and I remember him addressing it in the not too recent past (probably over on Renntech.org).
I did this mod about a year ago.
From previous threads, I heard that the needles are very fragile when removing them.
It may be that you broke or dislodged the spring mechanisms in the gauges.
Not sure how to check or repair, however.
What you did was knock the pin in the motor that holds the needle...ask me how i know...It is repairable, The gauge motors work they just will not read..The cluster needs to come apart..again
If you buy a face kit, it usually comes with a tool that looks like a thin claw handle. You have to carefully work the needle off the shaft. Maybe I was not gentle enough?

Yeah, I guess that was the wrong tool?/ Seriously= If you want this upgrade do not do it yourself unless you are a jewler or a nuclear physicist..........
