The only difficult part was that i did not have the special torx wrench that has the hole punched in the center of it but I used pliers and worked it out.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I just put in an EVO V-Flow cold air intake (v1) in my 1999 c2 (tiptronic) last night and then took it for a long ride. Install was a snap and I had never done something like it before. The only difficult part was that i did not have the special torx wrench that has the hole punched in the center of it but I used pliers and worked it out.
Impressions:
1. Easy install
2. Engine is not noticeably louder at idle
3. I think that the car feels "quicker" (could it all be in my head?)
4. More of the metallic "whine" of the engine comes through while driving
(i love this sound)
5. at RPM > 3500 just a marvelous new aggressiv sound to the engine "pulling"
6. the idle seems a little rougher to me now.
overall, I am a big fan and would recommend this to anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive and easy upgrade to a c2. after i purchased it, i had second thoughts about installing it after reading many of the threads about different peoples impressions and experiences. In the end, I am glad i put it in....
I am just trying to figure out if there is any huge advantage to getting the version 2 (besides the fact that it looks a lot cooler)?
I will try and post pics soon.
has anyone tried to clean the MAF- if so, any pointers on the best way to do it?
Thanks all.
Funny because I just installed the same intake this weekend. I did not clean the MAF, because it looked very clean. No dust or anything. But I have to agree that the sound is a lot cooler.
By the way did you oil it up before you installed it? I have the K&N recharging spray and oil, and don't know if i should use it.
From what I understand the v-2 is sealed so it does not take any heat in form the engine.
I installed the v-flow a couple months ago and am also very happy. According to Porsche, the MAF should not be cleaned AT ALL. Vividracing suggested spraying it CAREFULLY with air (air in a can???) and then reinstall it. I did that and have had no problems. Regarding the K&N, the EVO V-Flow shouldn't require any further oiling. In fact, you have to be careful with the oil since it is known to blow into the MAF and damage it. Just go with it the way it came.
