I tested the Cayenne TT twice, and was underwhelmed, but feel that it might grow on me with time, as I commute into the city every day.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Much as I love my C4S cab, I'm seriously thinking about getting something with more room for the kids, plus the end of top-down weather is looming. I have a bug which makes me want to swap cars every 18 months. Any opinions comparing the choice above? I loved my '00 M5, and the new one seems to be even better (but IMO uglier). I have the E66 745Li which (in spite of the quirky electronics) is a great driver. I tested the Cayenne TT twice, and was underwhelmed, but feel that it might grow on me with time, as I commute into the city every day. Any thoughts?
Sounds like you're underwhelmed by both. If you have the space, may I suggest a Boxster AND a nice Japanese SUV like a Lexus? We got our RX330 loaded for $37K. That's a nice family car that the wife likes and is cushy and safe, holds bicycles, etc. The Boxster is the toy/commute car that is still fun to drive.
That's like asking if you should root for the Yankees, or the Lakers!!!!!! 2 different sports.....2 different driving experiences. Having had 4 Porsches, then an '01 M5, and back to Porsche, it was a big waste of time......there is nothing like a Porsche.
Decide if you really need an SUV or a sedan. Get an SUV if you haul a lot of stuff/kids or tow something. But I would suggest a real SUV if you really need one, I also looked at the Cayenne (S) and was so so on it, just too small and a crappy towing capacity. I ended up getting a fully loaded King Ranch Expedition for a lot less that does the job a lot better IMO. If you need a sedan get a M5 or CLS 500 they are both very nice, especially the AMG CLS.
M5 if you can get one near MSRP without getting raped.
Forget the Cayenne unless the city roads are really bothering you. How well does CTT ride anyways? They have low profile I thought. If you want a compliant ride from a SUV that's buiild tough, LX470 is hard to beat. These will run trouble free for years.
^ M5, LAN EVO.
or maybe since its just going to be a kid hauler and u've got a Pcar in the garage, get a mazdaspeed6 for family duty. cheap, practical does the job faster than most econoboxes and shouldn't break the bank like a 150,000$ BMW or Porsche
Thanks for so many good responses. I should elaborate a bit more on my present stable: for (light) trucking needs like going to Home Depot or bad winter days, I still have an '98 Isuzu Trooper Ltd. with 23K miles which runs perfectly well. My wife has the 745Li. Ever since I sold my E39 M5 I have missed it although I always regretted that it looked too much like a 528. I would not keep the C4S if I bought a new M5 or CTT. When the next iteration of C4S cabs comes out, I can always get back in. I am leaning towards the M5, but think it lacks the good looks of my present ride---that is my main concern (I realise the car more than makes up for it!)
