Sounds like you may have gotten the same kit....did you have to replace everythign else too or just the clutch pack?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
New to the group. Have really appreciated the insight and knowledge from members of the group.
Have a quick question:
Have an 02 carrera with 46000 miles on it. Clutch was replaced less than 3000 miles ago. Took it into the dealership today and was told the clutch was "toast, down to the rivets".
I'm not sure how this happened!! I do not beat on the car or ride the clutch. The service manager asked me if i valet the car. I do this quite often as I live in Vegas and frequent the casinos for my work. Was told this is probably what happened.
Are clutches that sensitive in Porsches? Has anyone else had an experience like this? Is it possible that a valet with a heavy foot ruined my clutch?
Have driven clutches for many years. Is there something different about the way i should drive my Porsche in regards to clutching?
Hope this makes sense, really frustrated right now. Thanks in advance.
Michael
PS - If any forum members come to Vegas, send me an e-mail and will get you comps to my show.
Porsche clutches are not that sensitive. You should get 30,000 miles minimum (really should get substantially more - twice as much or more) out of a clutch.
I think your service manager is suggesting severe abuse........more on the level of Ferris Buller's Day Off. If true, let me be the first to say......that really stinks!
Sorry about your clutch. Where is your show at??
Just got back from Vegas yesterday. Love that town!!
I see all sorts of cars driven by valets over there, and I have never witnessed any abuse. Doesn't mean it can't happen though.
What show are you in?
What clutch did you have put back in it.......???? Look at my post "AVOID This Clutch Upgrade"

Thanks for the replies to my post. Here is the latest:
Got a call 10 minutes ago from the Porsche service manager. Now, the clutch appears to be fine. Yesterday, I was told the clutch was "toast, down to the rivets".
Today, I am told, the problem is the crankshaft is not seated properly. Guess what....I need a new engine!!!
The car is Porsche certified so I have been told the engine will be replaced free of charge. This is good, right?
Strange development!
