Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suggestion
Under no circumstances would I tell the mechanics to replace the clutch.
Leading evidence: 'Replace clutch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace clutch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

problem:
started the other night on the way home, felt like the clutch was slipping on the freeway, I would just ease on the gas and the RPM's would raise 500rpm or so. VEry strange since the prvious day it didn't do anything at all throughout my drive with some fellow Porsche owners. I tried it in different gears and different RPMs and still the same repsonse, like the clutch is slipping.
Yet when I get to a complete stop and jump on the throttle through 1st and 2nd gear it does not slip at all... not even a little bit... it grabs real hard. Now I can be on the freeway in 6th gear at 2000 rpm... roll on the throttle Lightly and it still slips...
my clutch release point is very high..
is this a bad clutch? or does it just need adjustment (if that is avail on the 99)
I have had clutches slip in past cars and it does it in every gear....
PLEASE HELP!!! TIA
I also have a 99 C2 cab. My clutch was slipping at 3000rpm's and would catch at 4000rpm's. after shopping the local stealers and two independentshops I was convinced itwas the clutch and I replaced it. Now I cannot get it into second gear and the shop is telling me it is another problem. I am losing my mind with these mechancs. Anyway, I have been asking for advise and or help on this sight for a while and have not seemed to find any.
How did you make out?
Well I'm not sure if it is your clutch.
However, if you do end up replacing it I will provide the following advice.
When I changed mine I went with a lite-Flywheel and and "Upgraded" clutch from FVD.
(NOTE: NOT THE RACE CLUTCH!)
The material in this clutch generated too much heat for daily driver.
DO NOT USE....go with the stock clutch and a lite flywhere if you choose to go in that direction.
BUt AVOID the upgraded clutch pack.
I will be posting this as its own post. but wanted to prevent someone from having the same problems.
BruceM my guess would be a clutch even though 33,00 seems low on milage however, it may depend if you are riding the clutch and not completely letting it out all the way all the time you may also check underneath the car and make sure your not leaking oil between the tranny and engine this can cause slippage also. Take it in to porsche and have them check it out.

I've only had one clutch fail on me, so I'm far from an expert on what clutch failure symptoms are, but what you describe does not seem like a symptom of a failing clutch. In my case I detected slippage only when the clutch was placed under great stress, and not when I eased off the gas as you describe. If I were you, I'd take my car to a Porsche certified mechanic and simply describe your symptom to the SA. Under no circumstances would I tell the mechanics to replace the clutch. Just tell them the symptom and let them diagnose the problem.
