Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, I've been reading alot of old threads here in the 996 forum, and it seems like the general opinion is that someone on a tight budget, such as myself, shouldn't bother getting the '02, even though you all clearly think it is far above and beyond the earlier year 996's. Anyways, I think the older one's look too much like a boxster. So, how much does the aerokit cost? Are there more than one? What about a GT3 kit? Does anyone have any pictures of all of these next to eachother so I can see the differences easily. I don't even know what the differences are, maybe you can point them all out in the pictures too. Thanks!

POST 3Original post

Here is the Aero Kit 1/GT3 kit from 99-01. Link -Darren

POST 4Original post

The right aero Kit for the 02 is the aero II kit. I just got mine (OEM) from eagleday.com for $1800 for the tail/lid and $600 for the side skirt. These are both OEM porsche. here's the side skirts project and the tail is in the pix under my signature https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/186650-weekend-projects-done-lowered-and-installed-aero-kit.html good luck

POST 5Original post

You can expect to pay $ 5-7k painted and installed for OEM GT3 Kit. This is mine, and I think it adds a lot to the car. BTW For sale 03 with 3400mi.

POST 6Original post

Here's what an Aero Kit looks like on a 99-01...... LINK -Eli

POST 7Original post

Mine is a '99 (pay no attention to the wrecks in the background)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

porsche-t that is exactily what I would get, how much did you spend? where did you get the parts? was it put on and then painted? was the whole car repainted? tell me everything! I LOVE IT

POST 9Original post

According to the window sticker, it came from the factory with the aero kit, CF interior parts, suspension and stainless steel exhaust.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think it looks fantastic, and it's just how I'd get mine if I had the money. Any pictures from the front without the bra on?

POST 11Original post

I think the mk1 style taco wing aerokit is the best on a narrowbody 996, the mk2 always looked a little ricey to me. Aftermarket ones , well look aftermarket. The C4S kit is 6700 from porsche, Braman is going to have it on sale again shortly~3800.

POST 12Original post

IMHO, every 996 should have WINGS. as my wife said, they "look" great

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

and those prices are just for the parts to be shipped to you?? then you need to take ur car someplace, and have them installed? and painted? what's that cost?

POST 14Original post

The good part is the oem parts are high quality and need very little(if any) finishing work, probably less than 500$ painted/installed for the C4S version.

POST 15Original post

Porsche-T where are you in SA? (feel free to PM me if you don't want to post in the open thread). Reason I ask is I grew up in SA and that street in the background looks alot like the street that runs behind the Quarry up to AHHS.....Tuxedo Drive I think? Love that area. Use to live in AH myself.

POST 16Original post

The street is actually in California (yeah I escaped with ALL of the money!) I've only been in SA for about 5 months. Monabaker - here is a picture without the bra.

POST 18Original post

Here is a silver '99 with a factory MkI aero kit. For comparison, the black car is a '04 GT3.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

HooliganX, Perhaps I'm not too familiar, but they look almost identical to me. With that said, I'll take the black one! Looks like the headlights are more agressive on the black car aswell.

POST 21Original post

It's hard to see in the picture, but the front's are a bit different. The side skirts are almost the same. The big difference (looks-wise) are the wings. The silver car has the Mk I aero kit with the "taco" wing. The GT3 has, well, the GT3 wing also known as the Mk II aero kit. No. The gentleman who owns that car is my boss. The picture was taken at a POC short track event at Streets of Willow.
