Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

By the way, call the selling dealer and ask him to run a service history on the car with the VIN and you can get a good idea of what work has been done.Or call Porsche and they can tell you what dealer sold the car originally

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i bought a few used-cars, never had any problem except a pwr window switch gone bad, got the part from ebay and fixed it myself in 5 minutes.
call me crazy, but i went though bob996's post(well, most of it, cause they are so long).

looking for my first p-car for a while. saw a CPO 996 matching my spec in my local porsche dealer (Year: 2000, 30K mile, $41900) didn't get it cause thinking about getting 997 instead.
now figure out i don't want 997 cause the $$. did a few search in autotrader.com, found one 99, c2 cab 45Kmile. asking for $35K. seems tempting. called. the guy said"it sent to auction already, if it's not auctioned off tomorrow, i will try to get your some pic"
should i continue my "reseach/adventure" on this car.? or move on.
all other 996 cab. in my area are "extreme rare C4"
i talked to the seller on this C4. how much you guys think i should offer.
http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...ce=&cardist=22
talked briefly with the seller.
the car is 100% org. stock. no repair work. all main. done by dealer.
the seller mentioned warranty "just" expired. kind of red flag for me. why he waited until warranty expired to sell the car?
i will ask the seller again if he wants to work with lower 40Ks
I have the same car except with a 6 speed not the tip. I bought mine in June of 04 with 4000 miles and I paid low 60's. Now that I better understand the market, I would either offer the guy low 50's or go for a 2002 or newer. They made some changes to the engine, chassis, etc from the 02 models. The 4 wheel drive is nice but if you're buying a summer rag top, don't get hung up on it. If you can spend high 50's look for a newer model. I love mine but if I did it all over I would get an 02~04 generation. Good Luck!

when did cab. change to glass rear window on 02 or 03?
AWD and hard top means nothing to me. in fact, negitive. i don't like AWD handling, my garage is filled with stuff already, hard to find a place for the hard top.
how about this one on ebay?

it's everything i am looking for but the color.
The 2002 came with a glass window. I love the blue color on the one you found on ebay. Have you tried Porsche.com and did a search on preowned in the trading area? Also there is a dealer in NY that has quite a stable of nice Porsches
