Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My Z06 felt much larger then my 1999c2.....Part prices are just plain NUTS.........Most Vette owners are under 5'6......Porsche owners never wave. In fact here in town (Greenwich Ct) I asked a guy getting in his 996 gt3 how he like his car ( I was parked right next to him) Well he looked at me like the guy in the movie Taxi "You Talkin to me?" Seems Gt3ers don't speak to plain C2er......Porsche hold up much better in terms of wear..... The vette will really scare you the first time you hit it from a stop, the C2 needs time to "get on the cams"The vette feels sooooooo much faster..........Porsche owners seem alot older. ( I'm no kid at 48)....Vette owner seem to much like kids back in High School. You know the type I'm cool and your not. In closing I now know what people have been talking about since the 1st 911 back in the 60s It may not be new ,but what a car.

POST 2Original post

Well, for the record, I at least flash my lights at fellow Porsche drivers. When I lived in CT (about 10 years ago), I had many Porsche friends...some I knew and some I didn't. Are you a member of CVR? A great group of Porsche people. I was your neighbor in North Stamford and before that, in Redding. I'm no spring chicken, but nor am I "over the hill." If you make your way down to Florida for one of our many great track events, be sure to let me know and I'll guarantee that you'll see many friendly Porsche people. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

Xvetter, Welcome Home. I live in North Stamford and am a CVR member . If you really want love your car come a DE event and meet the people. You won't be disappointed and you can drive your car the way it was meant to be driven. Forget about the "Detroit Iron" Regards, Elliot

POST 4Original post

[QUOTE=Xvetteowner] ..........Porsche owners seem alot older. ( I'm no kid at 48).... I am only 33

POST 6Original post

Well The cars are purpose built, The people are from 2 different worlds. I am 33 ,I wave at all Porsches, Porsche parts SHOULD be more expensive....And I think most vette guys are taller, seeing how the car is built for the average over weight North American. The vette is well a poor mans porsche, it does some things better, but more things worse. And Porsche is like nothing else...I have owned both....but i must say driving a vette to me anyways is like dating a women that is fun for the first month.....but driving a porsche is like your wife, everytime you see it you fall in love all over again

POST 7Original post

So a Porsche is going to give me a ton of chores to do every weekend?

POST 8Original post

My age: 58. Had three corvettes, just got my 2nd Porsche this summer. 911 is much much more of a long term relationship than the corvettes were.

POST 10Original post

Yeah where are those pics?!?!?!?!? By the way, I am detecting a theme here.........33 years young as well! Have 2 Porsche's currently and looking for a third. This is one disease that you can't ever escape from....PORSCHERITIS.

POST 11Original post

<-29, waves to fellow owners, vettes are just too common to justify owning but bang for buck can't be beat....

POST 12Original post

"Seems Gt3ers don't speak to plain C2er" Not this one. I will chalk up a conversation with any Porsche owner, the guy could be driving a clapped out 944 worth $3k (like my daughter drives) it does not matter.

POST 13Original post

I'm 27, on my second Porsche i always wave to other 911 owners, sometimes to boxster owners and never to cayenne owners (most in my area are soccer moms) 911 are in a different class - its like comparing a kia amanti to a bmw 3 series

POST 14Original post

I like to look at corvettes but I can't get over my mental block of purchasing American vehicles. N/A 911's have waved and nodded at me but the two TT's that I've come across since I've owned my 996 have been eager to show me their "Turbo" insignia. Reminds me of MB people who want to get pass you so you can see they have a 500 or 600S over your 430.. Oh, and I'm 32..

POST 15Original post

I'm 36 and just purchased a 02' C4 cab and I was thinking about a C6 convertible. The low end torque of the vette is fun, but for an everyday driver, I preferred the handling and interior of the Porsche. There are true enthusiasts in both arenas who appreciate all sports cars, including both Porsches and Corvettes for what they are. Having said that there are some stereotypes that I've seen on both sides. More corvette owners seem to be either young/bold/ and full of themselves (come to think of it, I went through a point in my life like this) or the 50+ overwieght rednecks (don't get me wrong, I have little redneck in me) I think I have seen more of the pretensious and status symbol crowd driving Porshces (more so with the 911 owners than the Cayenne or Boxter owners) who subscribe to the "whoever dies with the most toys...." theory. Anyway, we all have our own opinions and I like the diversity either way. I usually try to keep an open mind and wait until after I get to meet and know someone before I formulate an opinion. BTW, If I could, I wouldn't mind owning both a C6Z06 and a 997TT. Then I could argue with myself about the differences. "There is no substitute for an American Revolution".

POST 16Original post

I wave to all Porsche owners and usually get some response from all but the Boxster owners, they look at me like I have 3 heads.

POST 17Original post

31 and my 6th porsche ( Currently have an '04 C2 and an '04 Cayenne S) had a 993C2(1995), 993TT(1996), 996C2 (2001) 996TT (2002). I have had many american "muscle cars" old and new and I still own a '66 Shelby GT350, '70 Mustang Boss 429 and a '70 Hemicuda - have had many newer model vettes and mustangs and even 1 '97 Camaro SS (GARBAGE) but nothing is more exciting to drive than my highly modified Porsches - they just get my blood running. Haven't owned a Ferrari yet and am hoping to get myself into a 430 as soon as I find a reasonably priced (slightly used) one. I am sure that will be equally as exciting (I hope).

POST 18Original post

after seeing 'transporter 2' last night, it makes me want to get into an 'L' car the lambo at the end looked like one of the meanest cars EVER

POST 19Original post

Hell I'm 54 and I'll wave at anybody! On the track I'll even wave 914's by as I try to get my TT under control. No pride here! Cheers,

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some of my points are NOT to be taken as fact just some fun... One thing is for sure the acceleration of my ZO6 was really something to feel. If it had a back seat for my two little girls I would still own it. I was looking for a 997 or the last year for the 996 and then just by luck found this 1999 ocean blue with 18 inch web type porsche rims and I just had to buy it. (spent 32k saved alot of money over the new one) Will post pic's.. Car also has a reprogramed computer, Hi-flow air cleaner and fabspeed mufflers. I spoke with a guy in CT about adding a supercharger to my car and I'm thinking lets do it.....Thanks for the nice welcome to the forum. P.S I know I should NOT have done this but I smoked a new Mustang Gt from one light to another ( got to about 60mph) I guess I still got that boy racer kid in me. It wasn't right but man was it fun.....

POST 21Original post

Elliot, I used to live in North Stamford. Beautiful place. I also was a CVR member for many years.

POST 22Original post

I like to think most Porsche owners appreciate all sports cars. Every car is a compromise. Vettes are great: the torque is a blast, the price is low, good gas mileage. I drive a 996 because it fits my needs: good gas mileage, long service intervals, great handling, steering, and brakes, fits three in a pinch (even four in fetal positions!), and provides an inspiring ride on those rural Texas roads. Plus I like the looks of the 911.

POST 23Original post

Welcome Xvette!... I'm glad you've joined the club... You will not regret it! Unfortunately you will get the occassional rude P-car owner (albeit at a much lesser extent than rude Ferrari, BMW and MB owners). I've gotten my share of rude GT3 and TT drivers. But for the most part I've made a lot of new friends and acquaintances that I wouldn't have made if I didn't have my P-car. Enjoy the experience!
