Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I wouldn't worry too much about the rear speakers since those are really just for "fill" anyways.

If you want to replace the stock rear speakers then think about getting something cheaper like a pair of Focal Access speakers.

The previous owner had Blaupunt speakers and a bass tube put in all running off of a two channel 100 watt Blau amp.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wuddup fellas.
I am about to put my '99 996 in the shop for some stereo replacing. The previous owner had Blaupunt speakers and a bass tube put in all running off of a two channel 100 watt Blau amp. He wired it all thru the rain gutter, so everytime I go thru the car wash my feet get soaked. This also happens every time it rains. Idiot previous owner. Anyway...
So, I am staying with the factory head unit for now. I will be upgrading to a cd player later with a fold out widescreen, I just don't have the extra $1,600 to throw down on top of a $3,300 price tag.
This is the breakdown.
4" Focal front component set
5 1/2" Eclipse rear component set
500x5 JBL amplifier
Dynomat on components
Sub box with....this is where you guys come in...
I can't decide whether or not to go with 4 6" JL subs, or 3 8" JL subs. (No, I am not taking out the rear seats, and no, this will not affect rear visibility.
Need advise here.
Thank you.
So far your list looks nice.
What kind of bass do you like?
Do you want to make the box or buy one already made?
Car Audio Innovations
has some nice boxes that can be made for your car. I have not used them (yet), but I have not heard anything bad about them. A bit spendy, though.
Keep us updated!

What speakers are you putting on the doors? I wouldn't worry too much about the rear speakers since those are really just for "fill" anyways. I would put the Focal Polyglass 100CV (2-way components) on the dash, Focal Utopia 5WS on the doors (yes, they fit
and give wonderful mid-bass) and run the dash and doors in a 3-way setup (using Focal 3-way crossovers). The 3-way setup in the front will sound awesome with the bass enclosure you're getting. If you want to replace the stock rear speakers then think about getting something cheaper like a pair of Focal Access speakers.
@Mitty - Thank you. I don't listen to rap, but I like heavy bass every now and then. In other words, when I want to be heard, I want to have the capability. But I think maybe 5% of the time will I want to get loud. I do like hard hitting bass, but crisp and clear. Not just some murky crap that the guy in the Cadillac blares with no clarity. The shop that I went to does installs on the high-end cars in town, so they might charge a bit more, but their work is impeccible and fully guaranteed. They will be the ones building the box. I just hope it doesn't weigh down my back end more than I had anticipated.
@programmatore - My doors have no speakers(!) I will probably put some in later, so thanks for the advice on what size will work. I think my mid bass will be lacking, so I appreciate the insight. The 100cv is what I am putting in the dash. I will look into what it will take to put the 5W's in the doors. On the rears I am going with Eclipses cuz they are only $179. I will see what the price difference is on the rears...I need to find out more on those doors, too....Thank you.
@leedav - lol. Yeah, the brushless kind.
where are you located? I worked in the car audio biz for 10 years..... setup you are looking at is nice. run with the 3 8w6's and you will be happy. Do not run the 6.5's. If you just wanted a nice kick you could also run with a single 10 in a kickass box in the rear... something to think about
