Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Leading evidence: 'Set during replacement' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set during replacement' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Had Squire of Bellevue do my annual oil change this AM and he pointed out that the RMS was begining to leak. Immediately took it over to Barrier Porsche and was told that Porsche has just announced another RMS type/upgrade/modification and they have them on backorder and will call me as soon as they come in.
Anybody know anything about yet another RMS update changeover?
This is beginning to be VERY tiresome, when through this with my 99 and was hoping I had dodged the bullet with the 01.
Yea its on my car.....this is the forth one, I posted something a while back (maybe 4 weeks ago) check that post it has a part number. It was installed last week...no oil yet, but the jury is still out.
There is a great article on the new seal in "Total 911" magazine. Porsche redesigned the seal and the tool the dealers use to install it. The new tool sets the seal 5mm further back. The article mentions that Porsche discovered that some seal replacements failed because the replacement seal was not properly set during replacement.
It is an interesting article.

My 2002 C2 left me a spot on the shop floor the day I brought it home. The warranty runs out at the end of this year. Guess I will take it in and see if I can get another engine or something for free, gratis, zip...zero? I doubt that Porsche has come up with a real fix. Just another reason to try something else out that probably will not solve the problem? In the mean time, I think I will just drive the hell out of it, enjoy doing so, and hope for the best.

I have found that a piece of cardboard under the engine does wonders for keeping the shop floor clean. All of my antique vehicles have one. Cheap and disposable, and can be found in coordinating designer colors.
