Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

From my previous research of my serial number it matches my car exactly I just know in the Carfax the engine was replaced two years ago by a shop in Missouri called the shop and they have no record of where it came from only that Day installed it.I was only trying to figure out how many miles it may have had on it when it was installed into my 911.
Leading evidence: 'Install into my 911' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Good afternoon everyone, just wondering if theres any way to match my engine to its original donor vehicle VIN using the engine serial number.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good afternoon everyone, just wondering if theres any way to match my engine to its original donor vehicle VIN using the engine serial number. I called local P dealer and they told me they couldnt. Cheers
The early COA's (Certificate of Authenticity ) originally had the engine and transmission Serial Numbers in them.......I have read that COA's don't have engine Serial Numbers in them, so it may now be eliminated...
Also I remember seeing engine Serial Numbers stored in the DME under " extended identifications" using PST2 and PIWIS 1 , not sure about PIWIS 3...I haven't really looked since I know my original Serial Numbers ..
Finding out what was the factory equipped engine or trans S/N from a vehicle VIN is straightforward, but trying to find the original vehicle VIN for a given engine S/N is nearly impossible. The best you can probably do with the information available is narrow it down to a specific year and model type (C2, C4, etc). What is the engine S/N prefix (first 3 digits)?
Thanks for all the replies very helpful as usual everybody. Hi SoCal, I am guessing that COA came with the vehicle. You maybe had it from new? Unfortunately, I do not have one do you know if its possible to get a replacement from Porsche? Thanks
I got it 5 years ago from Suncoast for $10.00
I used the (now dead) link in this thread. You could contact Suncoast to see if they still offer the service.

Porsche discontinued the COA in 2022 and replaced it with the Porsche Classic Technical Certificate (PCTC). There were people filing off engine numbers and using the COA number to create a numbers matching car. Now that isn't possible. To get a PCTC, you have to take it to one of the 17 Classic dealers and leave the car overnight. They examine the whole car and give you a 6 page report that tells if the numbers match and a whole lot more. It's like a PPI only they don't bore scope the engine. I just had it done at Paul Miller Porsche. Wish I had done it sooner. No mechanic ever told me I was missing a rear wheel liner and I wish they had because without it, a bunch a debris and water build up at a point by the transverse strut and rusts it out. Ug.
The dealer won't tell you what engine number corresponds to your VIN because of what happened above.
I
It cost $1300. It is clearly out of the realm of the casual owner, but I got some very useful info out of it like I would in a PPI which I did not do before I bought the car, and I needed numbers matching documentation to enter a particular national Concours, which I would not have won without it,
As an aside, they washed the car for me and it revealed that the rear drains (it's a cab) were completely clogged. I thought they had been cleaned, but they were jammed full of crap, so, yeah that wasn't cheap fix but it saved my *** later. All in all, the PCTC and the process helped me quite a bit.
