Excluding the Turbo and Targa, all 996's have the word "Carrera" as part of the rear emblem. Well, I think that is to common (First pic), that I decided to do an emblem "delete" (Second Pic). That also looked too plain so I got a bright idea (for me, anyway). I ordered the Porsche letters, painted them AS and mounted them across the engine lid. Not bad if I do say so myself. What do you think?
Last project is to change gold steering wheel emblem to silver. Does anyone know how to do this w/o removing the wheel?

That killed the weekend, but I'm very happy with the results. Unique but tasteful. Any opinions?
Very nice Don, subtle yet classy...
Soon..I am gonna make the S in my c4S emblem red!, my car is black, c4s..I have red seatbelts, the big reds, and I think the "red" S will bring a little Red to the rearend!
I like it alot Don! It's very elegant looking. BTW how'd you get them on so straight? It really looks like it came from the factory like that. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
Phil: Sounds like a nice plan. I think someone posted that effect some time ago...maybe not on a black C4S tho. BTW, what color is the "Carrera 4" portion of the logo. Maybe the Carrera 4 should be red and the "S" silver or something. It would be essy to remove mask and spray.
Renato. It was easy actuallly after getting total measurement across the lid I found center point. Then I used a piece of wood and a water based pen and "scribed a line 1" up from bottom; scribed another line 1 3/4" above that to give me guidance for placement. After placing the letter "S" right at the mid-point, I cut a 1" wide piece of corrugated and used that width as the space between letters.
The hard part was the letters. They are the pre-74 911 letters that went across the bottom of the lid much like I did. They all had studs, so I had to grind them off so they woul lay flat, spray them with AS then Clearcoat. Attached 2way tape to the backs of individual letters (that was a bitch), then put them in place. Sounds simple but it was a study in patience.
For some reason, I am unable to see the pictures Don has posted. Don, is the link down?
Edit: Oooooh. It has appeared now, when I reloaded the browser. Looks good Don. Thanks.
Regards.
They look great. I might be tempted to remove my targa script and put something like this. This is one great idea and I wonder why doesn't the factory implement it and if not I'm sure you can make a business selling these, I'd place an order if you offer any kits
Very nice. Check mine out. The letters are stick on and are actually for my old 928 rear bumper which has the word Porsche de-bossed in the bumper cover. When I purchased the Carrera it had nothing on the back at all, someone removed the Carrera script.

Hi Don:
Looks great, since the Porsche factory watches these forums, I think it is time for us to patent some of these creative ideas.
Do we have any patent attorneys on the forum?
