Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Many of you should have experienced the fact that the cigarette lighter in early 996's doesn't clamp radar detector plugs, etc. well. Does anybody know of an update/upgrade for this? Thanks in advance.

Same problem here. When I decided mine was no good, I asked the Porsche parts guy about it. He showed me the replacement which was way deeper and looked vastly different from the one installed. Had them install the new one and been good to go ever since.

Problem with connecting a radar detector into the cig lighter is you have to unplug it every time you switch off the engine. That action (especially with a DD) will wear out the socket plus if you forget to plug it in again when starting, theres a likelihood that you will get done for speeding. Down by your right foot is a removable carpeted panel. Inside there is a 4 pin socket. 2 of those pins can be used to connect your detector into. That way the detector comes on and off with your ignition switch.

You can also just pop off the batwing and it's right there as well.
