I don't think I've ever heard a Porsche owner say, "Gee, I wish I had installed a cheaper, after market part."

FWIW, I went with OEM when I had my tank replaced (along with cap, WP, belt, hoses/lines and t-stat).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When my car sits for more than a few days there is a yellow fluid that drips on the garage floor under the motor (sorry not good at posting pics to Rennlist). It doesn't appear to be motor oil though I could be wrong. Oil level doesn't seem to fluctuate on dipstick. Have not taken the time to jack the back of the car up to crawl underneath it to check for wet spots. Wondering if anyone knows of a common leak of a yellow-ish fluid. Thanks (again) ahead of time.

POST 2Original post

May be the coolant. Check the reservoir to see if the coolant in it is the same color as what's on your floor. Does it evaporate? If so, you know it's not oil.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Crawled under my car. It's coolant. Coming from H20 pump housing (good call 5CHN3LL). Any chance it's just the gasket or do I likely need H20 pump too? If I elect to replace the pump, I've seen $250 - $350 units at ECS & $110 units on Ebay (including the gasket). Is this a part I should take a chance on?

POST 4Original post

If it's the original pump, it's due for replacement (as preventive) anyway. I think the stock pump from Sunset Porsche is no more than $300.

IMHO, NO! FWIW, I went with OEM when I had my tank replaced (along with cap, WP, belt, hoses/lines and t-stat).

POST 6Original post

If it's leaking or the pulley is wobbly, definitely replace the pump before it fails. This is the voice of experience talking.

POST 7Original post

FWIW, except for IMS bearings, I strongly favor OEM parts for "mission critical" components, and water pumps certainly fit that category. I don't think I've ever heard a Porsche owner say, "Gee, I wish I had installed a cheaper, after market part." relinuca

POST 8Original post

Also, if your fluid is original, it's also a good time to flush the coolant and change it to the newer OE pink coolant.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. Got a new H20 pump on order.
