Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Weird question, but let's say you buying a new set of seats for your car. I could rent a van to go get them, or I could drive my 996 to pick them up. If I took my passenger seat out and installed one of the seats in it's spot, is it possible to fit a spare seat in the car for transportation back home?

POST 2Original post

I'm guessing this isn't an option... In all seriousness, I'm guessing that there's a way to get the 2nd seat in the car but I'm not sure you'd want to do it...just based on the risk of tearing something. If there's enough room to get the right padding in place though it might not be a problem. If you do give it a shot I'm thinking that instead of securing the passenger seat where it belongs, you might also buy yourself some extra room if you lined the floor (to protect it) and moved the passenger seat up as close to the dashboard as you could get it. That should buy you an extra 6"-12" of room behind the passenger seat for the base of the other seat to fit behind the front seat. Good luck! Let us know how it goes if you decide to give it a try! Just my $.02, -Eric

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting point. Maybe I'll just drive the BMW since I can fold the rear seats flat. May still need to measure things...

POST 4Original post

yes i did it by leaning the passenger seat all the way back. It was a euro gt3 seat.

POST 5Original post

Yes, I also did it. When I bought my car, I drove it from Detroit to New York with the factory driver's seat on the passenger's seat. (The PO installed a GT3 driver's seat.)

So you are right -- you need to rent VAN to get the seats for you :-)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the confirmation, guys and girls. I'll give it a shot.
