Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Guys, introducing my new (to me) 03 ! I traded my faithful 987 for it... (+ come cash unfortunately) No dissing please, that car was the best handling Porsche I've ever owned - of course some might say it handled that well because it severely lacked horse power to upset it, not an issue with the 3.6 996 ;-) Actually, we're going to be needing the back seats soon for a family addition soon, and, bless my wife, she thought a 911 was a better idea than a minivan (sorry her sisters are married too) ! Honestly I was not comfortable plonking $80K for a 997 - as much as I love its looks! This was a good compromise, though it is odd to be in an older porsche interior after 2 years with the 987 ! ;-) Tell me - I have a front bumper quandary. Simply put, I HATE the 03's stock front bumper, reminds me of a tilapia eating scum at the bottom of a lake ! Is the C4S bumper a stock replacement or is it wider, or does it open up air flow to the wrong area on a stock 996 ? I liked the 99-01 GT3 bumper but that does not match an 03 either because of the headlights... Any advice there? Not that I can afford it right now but I need a goal to save money towards ! ;-) PS: It was this one or an 02 Targa -same price. Geogrous car, that targa, but the doors went "fling" when you closed them, and the visibility in the rear with the glass roof down was BAD... So I went for the silver 03 - yawn ;-) But man does this car accelerate !!! ;-)

POST 2Original post

Greg - Congrats and Welcome to the 996 Forum. Nice looking car and nice wheels, too!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup, I always liked those wheels, glad they came with the car ! ;-)

POST 4Original post

Beautiful car and gorgeous wheels. Now that you've bought two more seats, you'll have to go grocery shopping more. Or something.

POST 5Original post

Greg, Have you considered the GT3 MkII front bumper cover?

POST 6Original post

Congrats! I believe the C4S bumper is a direct bolt on. This guy did the turbo (C4S) bumper and a lot more: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=44739 Enjoy your car!

POST 7Original post

Welcome. BTW Kevin, thats a beautiful Speed Yellow C4S in that picture above.

POST 8Original post

Yeh, your C4S ain't too bad lookin....... Sounds pretty good too.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have considered the Gt3 MK2 bumper, it is better, but it's still a tad fishy mouth to me. I really prefer the C4s or turbo one, with one vent on each side.. If it's a direct bolt on, I know what I ned to save for now ;-)

POST 10Original post

GregD, Sweet new ride! I am with you on the stock front. Since I have a pre-facelift, the 'turbo' style fronts offered looked like crap. I went with an aftermarket GT3. You should also look into side skirts. They really change (improve) the looks. My GT3 bumper is really growing on me. A lot less 'guppy look'. Kinda fits the body lines better than the turbo (IMO of course). Best of luck with the ride, RB

POST 12Original post

yeah..... rbjbbb where did you get that bumper at....? and what year is your baby????

POST 13Original post

Smile, My bumper is from precisionporsche.com. Note- it is fibreglass so less forgiving and not quite as true and smooth as poly. Bodyshop said fit was not bad. I think they do both pre and post facelift versions of it. My car is a 2000 C2 / Tip / 49k miles. Here is a link to an intro post i did a while back with more info and pics. Intro Post RB
